Spotify Connect & Yamaha Reciever problems - See the device but cannot connect.

I have a Yamaha RX-V577 reciever with Spotify Connect and update to the last firmware.
When I try to connect spotify using the Android APP, I see the device but cannot conect to it.

 

What are the steps you took to get to the error/issue?

1. I star a song

2. Click on the speaker sign with a circle, and click on the receptor (Yahama device).

3. The grey rounder speaker sign goes from grey to green and the sound waves moves (like tryng to connect).

4. After a while it goes back to grey.

 

IMPORTANT I dont know how sometimes it works, dunno how but after trying alot yesterday It worked. But cannot reproduce it.

Hello guys!

 

I've had the same problem as you and tried all these solutions with reset and etc. I got the Yamaha RX-V477, nothing worked for me until i changed the network settings. Follow these steps and hopefully this will work for you too:

 

1: Copy all your network information from your receiver (Press setup on your remote -> Go to network setup -> Information -> Write your network settings down except DNS)

2: Turn off the DHCP-setting (Setup -> Network Setup -> IP-adress -> DHCP OFF (When you turn DHCP to OFF you can press the down button afterwards))

3: Change your IP-Adress, Subnet and Gateway to the values you've written down before. Then change DNS (P) to 8.8.8.8 and DNS (S) to 8.8.4.4. This is the dns to Google.

4: Exit the setup by pressing the return button. 

 

Now the problem should be gone and Spotify connect should work as before. This is a soultion that worked for me and hopefully this will help you too.

The Issue is that currently you must use Chromecast 2

Spotify has outsourced sith tarting in feb 2016 and completed last month all its servers to the Google cloud

Your Yamaha receiver with latest firmware recognized the chromecast 2

Same for my expensive samsung TV not working anymore, only with chromecast 2

I noticed that after the problems, spotify did pick up only chromecasts as guest in the neighbourhood it never did this before.

This is the solution the good thing it is cheap chromecast 2 and working well and IOS

I have solved the connection problems at my home. My home network is rather complex. The Yamaha receiver is connected, via a managed switch, to my router and modem. The manged switch was running with old IP settings of a previous configuration (i.e. totally different network segment). Although other equipment (like Apple TV, smart TV and Time Capsule) had no serious problems with this issue, the Yamaha did have problems. After a reset/reconfiguration of the managed (Netgear) switch, the switch obtained via DHCP a valid IP address from my router and all works well now (for many months without any interference). 

 

Conclusions:

1) If you encounter problems, don't blame Yamaha, it's most likely a problem in you network configuration

2) The Yamaha receiver is more sensitive for network issues than most other equipment

3) As a fix / workaround you can configure a fixed DNS (e.g. OpenDNS) a fixed IP address. However, I highly recommend to solve the network issue(s).

Just worked trying this:

 

  1. Connecting first to my computer (from the spotify connect list)
  2. Then connecting to the AV reciever.

I noticed one important thing the AV reciever when it doesnt work  have a description down from the name saying in spanish "Disponible en la red" something like "available in the network", when this descriptions is not in the AV Reciever then it works.

I have the same trouble.

After the latest update of the app on my Galaxy S2 the connection to my Yamaha RX-V675 isn't reliable.

Sometimes the receiver is not visible or the song cannot be played. I have to restart the app or the receiver serveral times.

It's very annoying, because I paying for this service.

I have the same issue as ThYr0N described although different reciever model - Yamaha RX-A830.

Just to know I use a Nexus 5 with Lolipop update.

 

I will try with a Samsung Galaxy 3.

I have the EXACT same issue BUT on a Sony STR 1050! It worked fine up until lately. Sometimes I get it to work, but mostly not. When it works, it's very unreliable and often not in synch. 

 

It still works absolutely fine with my Computer/Spotify App. I can even tell my PC to use my AVR as sound output and the connect to my PC to listen via my AVR. But connecting directly to my AVR is a PITA. Since more users have the same problem across different AVRs, it seems to be a new Spotify problem and not an issue with my AVR.

 

When can we expect that this issue is fixed!? I'm using this feature constantly.

 

I have exactly the same issue with my RX-V577. Im using Spotify Premium on my Nexus 5 device with Android Lollipop.

When I press Connect button on the Spotify App the receiver is shown and when I select it to start the streaming connection just fails.

 

As ThYri0n explained, this is not happening everytime. When its not working i can also read the text  "Disponible en la red" ("Available in the network") message under the device name. When this message is not shown the streamming seems to work fine.

 

 

Same behavior here. But also when it connects, the connection is less stable than before. But 85% of the time, it's not even connecting. Please fix it asap. Should be No. 1 priority.

So...is anyone from Spotify reading this? The main reason I'm using spotify is connecting it to my AVR. It would be nice to get some feedback about this new issue and where it comes from as well as when it's going to be fixed.

It is NOT a yamaha problem. I have the the new Sony STR 1050 and it has the exact same problem.
