My Question or Issue

For the last 2 or 3 weeks, whenever I play anything with Spotify on the same wifi as my phone, my phone's volume buttons will only let me change the Spotify music playback volume. Even if I force-quit Spotify, it still won't let me change my own phone's volume. Spotify Connect is OFF on all of these devices, but it hasn't changed anything.

The weird part is... this was happening to me even when I completely removed Spotify from my phone! I have absolutely no idea why this is happening.

I would absolutely appreciate any help you could give me. Hoping to take care of this issue before I chuck my phone out the window...

Thanks!

Bump, please help 😞

Hey @xHarry777

Thanks for posting - we’re here to help!

Start off by logging out from all devices and then logging back in. Occasionally this is necessary to force a sync of info between your devices and our account system.

In case this persists, try performing a clean reinstall of the app on all devices in use. This will remove corrupted cache that might be getting in the way and get you the latest app version.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

This needs attention! Why is this not just a toggleable option in settings yet? I have a lot of apps running in the background and its incovienent when i want to adjust the volume of my ringer, or god forbid a video thats ACTUVELY playing on my phone. Spotify nad andwer of "just close the spotify app" is lazy and not even kind of idela. What if i want to control the songs but not the volume.
