My Question or Issue

Suddenly started today after never having an issue, any playlist that has a local file, no matter how many (dozens or tested with a single local file) downloaded to it instantly crashes Spotify, if there isn't any local files its perfectly fine. if the files are not downloaded and unlistenable, it doesn't crash but as soon as i start downloading them the app crashes. I have reinstalled the app completely twice and nothing, changed settings that have been the same for years and nothing. My Desktop version works fine and has no issues playing the same files and if i select the file on my desktop, then switch to listening on my phone the song plays fine.

Thanks for any assistance, this is very annoying as a lot of my favourite songs are local files for me.

Hey @majorsadness,

Thank you for your post here in the Community. We're happy to help.

You mentioned that you reinstalled the app. Can you confirm if you followed these steps? This way of reinstalling the app will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

Another useful tip is to make sure that you have enough free space.

Keep us posted 🙂

Cheers!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Hi Jeremy, thanks for your responce.

After not using spotify for about a day (I had a Wedding to attend) the problem was resolved itself.

I did peform the clean uninstall before, and did have plenty of space but it did not resolve it, however after waiting a bit it just started working after trying again. Very strange but now i can listen to my music once again.

Thanks for your help.

Hey there @majorsadness,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Glad to hear that the app is working fine again 🙂

If the issue comes back, what you can try is removing your local files from both the phone and PC, connecting both devices to another network (like a mobile hotspot) and reuploading the songs.

If you have questions or need more help, you can always give us a shout.

Cheers.
