My Question or Issue

I use the Spotify app on my Android tablet every day and I have a large playlist that I listen to regularly. Recently I have been experiencing a bug where while scrolling the playlist it will stop suddenly and won't let me scroll for several seconds also when this happens it will sometimes register that I am trying to swipe side to side like I am trying to add to the queue when I am clearly attempting to scroll up or down. This makes it extremely difficult to navigate the playlist. I have tried clearing the cash, restarting my device, logging out and back in and even uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify but the problem is still there. I have searched for a solution for days with no success and this is my last resort. I hope someone here can help me otherwise I may have to find another music streaming service to use.

Hey folks,

We've made some changes on the backend. Can you please restart the app and check if you're still seeing the same behavior?

Keep us posted.

Since the new swipe to add to playlist feature was added, scrolling in playlists sometimes doesn't work. It just doesn't detect the touch movement at all and nothing happens. Sometimes I also accidentally swipe to add a song to playlist, so the feature is way too sensitive. So maybe it's related to my issue that sometimes scrolling touch movement is not detected at all. Unfortunately, it's not reliably reproducible.

Hi there @bigm,

Thanks for reaching out.

So far we haven't seen any reports about such behaviour and we weren't able to reproduce this on our end. When possible, could you send us a screen recording showing what exactly you're doing and what exactly happens? That will help us look into this further. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

Keep us posted.

Got the exact same thing, started when I updated the app (I don't have auto update on so did it manually) and immediately same issue with the lag scroll and the unintentional queueing of songs. Maybe try rolling back to previous version? I am about to try this now that I know its definitely an issue on last update given the age of your post.

My Question or Issue

Hello,

For the past 3-4 days, I've been having problems scrolling through the app. When I scroll in a playlist, sometimes the app detects that I'm trying to add the song to the queue.

Here's a video: https://1drv.ms/v/s!ArhcLTl_kGPJg9Aq3WKQ477TbVKzBA

Thanks for the reply, I really don't know when it last updated so I can't be sure myself but, as for rolling back to previous version I really wouldn't know how to do that but please let me know if it works for you.

I am experiencing this issue as well. The swipe to queue functionality seems to have changed as of the update, and only in certain playlists. My Liked Songs are fine as usual but many others behave differently

My Question or Issue

With Spotify version 8.9.60.560, the swipe right to queue functionality is less responsive in certain playlist, while in others, it behaves as intended (Liked Songs for example)

In some playlists, the swipe to queue no longer provides vibration feedback when the swipe distance threshold is reached. The threshold itself has also been moved further. The swipe now carries momentum, which causes more frequent accidental queueing.

This well describes the issue I am also experiencing with the scrolling and queueing in playlists

Seems like you're having an issue worth investigating.

You should try deleting and reinstalling the app. Hopefully that'll fix the issue. 🙂

Note: I'm not a Spotify employee.

I've already tried reinstalling the app; the error still occurs.

The angle required for a touch movement to count as a right queue swipe seems to have been changed significantly as well, contributing to the issue with accidental queueing when attempting to scroll.

Also it seems like Artists top 5 list queue and scroll as usual, but custom playlists behave in this problematic way.

I'm experiencing the exact same issue since 8.9.60.560 (on Android 14 on my Pixel 7 Pro).

I agree missing haptic feedback as well as muscle memory contribute to the change making it harder for me to add songs to the queue now. It's exactly how the OP described.

Please take another look at the behavior or revert the change. It's worse 😕

@Joan

Hi. I recorded a video showing one of the aspects of the altered swipe to queue behavior on Android. The video shows the difference in behavior in two types of playlists. 1. "Custom Playlist" where a swipe does not queue a song despite reaching the distance threshold (also no haptic feedback). However, violently swiping quickly carries momentum, causing the song to queue anyway. This behavior is not very good.

2. "Liked Songs and Artist page". Here, queueing behaves as usual. Swiping until the threshold queues the song, and violently swiping quickly does not. This behavior is much better and does not dosturb scrolling
