Spotify closes when I am on other apps

Whenever I press the home button on my phone or go into another app, Spotify just closes and stops playing music. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it still happens. I don't know what to do. I have a LG Escape 2.

There is a trick that might help you:

Pause the song you're listening to in Spotify, then exit out of it, and press the home button twice to bring out multitasking and then press play.

The home button on the phone? That didn't do anything, and the app itself doesn't seem to have a home button.

This problem just started a few days ago.
