Spotify crashes after login - car headunit

Spotify crashes after login - car headunit

Plan

Premium

Device

Allwinner quad-core t3 k2001 (car headunit)

Operating System

Android 9

My Question or Issue

After one of the last updates - roughly a month ago, Spotify began crashing on startup. That is - after operating normally for about a year.
If I clear cache/storage, I can see the login page, and after inputting credentials, the app crashes.

I've tried several actions:

1) Factory reset to the Android system.

2) Uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify.

3) Cleared cache/storage.

4) From desktop - changed password and made a log-out from all other devices.

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks!

Hi there @f2e0ft8drjfhrx5cara6,

Thanks for the post and welcome to the Community!

The Spotify app for car head units is developed by the car manufacturer and not directly by us. It's best you reach out to the customer support team of the car manufacturer for more info.

Cheers.

Hey Alex,

Thank you for the reply!

The Spotify app on my android device is downloaded directly from the play store, and it is being updated by the play store.

If I may add, it was not preinstalled on the android device.

Might there be another approach to the issue?
Thanks!

Hi there @f2e0ft8drjfhrx5cara6,

Thanks for the reply.

It's best to check if there are any firmware updates for the head unit on the manufacturer website.

Issues with the car system apps appear if Spotify makes any changes to the API and the manufacturers may need a few days to release updates for their apps to account for the changes in the Spotify API. This is why I recommended reaching out directly to customer support, so they can give you more details about why this might be happening exactly.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

Thanks again,

will try to see if I can get any info from that side.

Enable play video while driving option. It solved the issue for me.
