Tried Spotify in my car using Adrois Auto, worked fine, then tried the next day and received this message. laterrestarted my phone, worked again, now doesn't work again. You can hear the music though if you click the play button on the phone, but you cannot forward songs or increse decrease the volume. I don't understand???

Reinstalling the app is NOT a solution, just a temporary fix.
Same issue here - happened two weeks ago with my Samsung Note5, still have the issue with my new Samsung S8+. Issue occurs in my Ford Fusion (SYNC3 v2) & Ford Escape (SYNC3 V2.2).
Yup same problem for me with a Samsung S8+ and a 2016 Chevy Malibu. Reinstalling Spotify helped for a short time then back to problems. I pay for both Google Play Music and Spotify and the main reason I use Spotify in my car is that there is no limit on the amount of songs I can have in a playlist where Google limits you to 1000 I think it is.
If Google wises up there, I'm leaving Spotify
So I think what's causing the issue is using Spotify on another device. In my case specifically I switch over to my iPad and listen for a little while, then jump back to my S7 with AA later and I'll get the notice. The best workaround so far is force stopping Spotify and then re-connecting it to the dash. So it looks like there's an issue maybe with continuity between listening sessions, since my S7 bugged out and tried to resume playing the same tracks as my iPad instead of continuing from where it left off.
The issue has been occuring less latey (which is nice) but makes it even more frustrating when it does happen. I've been trying to determine a root cause, but it's so inconsitant that it's been difficult to nail down. The only shure way I've found to resolve the issue is by restarting the phone, which leads me to believe that this could be fixed via a software update. It would be nice to have someone from Spotify provide this issue some attention. Reading through these posts, it's obvious that determining the source of the problem, be it the Spotify app or Android Auto app, has not yet happened.
The S8 had a recent update (a week or so ago), but the problem is still randomly occuring. I'm on Verizon.
Thanks! I'll give this a try and report back asap.
