Spotify from microSD is slow

Solved!

Spotify from microSD is slow

Hey there,

I've just bought a 32gb microSD from Lexar and put it into my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo).

Now I've put my offline playlists and the app itself on the card, that worked fine.

But now, Spotify is very slow, sometimes it takes about 10 seconds to skip a song 😕

How can I reach the old speed with the microSD card?

Thanks, Dlesnu 🙂

Oh. And if you remove it from the device does it work well? You could see if it's the recent app by downgrading to 2.8 (See link in my signature).

Also try chkdsk on a PC to verify there are no bad sectors which could be causing slow read/write speeds. You could also try re-formatting the SD as well

What class is your SD card. I always opt for a class 10 as that's perfect for data read/write. If your SD card is class 4 or lower you may find some delay doe to the read/write speeds of the SD card.

In fact it's a class 10 card, that's the point 😕

Yes, if I remove the card, it works well.

I will try to re-format the card now, if this doesnt work, I'll try to downgrade the the app 🙂

Thank you

Anyway, I formatted the card now to exfat instead of fat32, and what should I say..

It seems to work! 😄

Let's hope that the speed will hold on, otherwise I will post here again^^

Thanks for your help 🙂

Brilliant, glad it's working for you. I always prefer to format my cards in the device it will be used on before use to ensure it's a) clean and b) in the format preferred by the device. This is from experience (similar to yours) 🙂

The funny thing is, first I formatted it in my device 🙂

But in my case, it works much better with exfat (formatted on pc).

Anyway, very strange 😄

But hey, finally it works ❤️ Thank you

Does you experience with the SD Card formatted as exFAT format continues to be fine? Meaning that Spotify is no longer slow.

Thanks

No, sadly not. It became slow again after 1-2 days, awfull 😞
So i switched to Deezer, it's SO FAST instead of Spotify, unbelievable.
You should test Deezer if Spotify is slow at your device, too. (with sd
card)

Greez

So this thread is marked as solved but the issue isnt acutally solved? This is GARBAGE!

The problem is Andoid and how they power up / down the external memory.

Currently, for lack of better words, it is a joke.

Good luck getting external memory to work at any respectable speed on any Android device.  It is simply mud flinging per device to see what sticks.

Some will work, others will fail, and there will be no ability to change that.

WELCOME TO ANDROID!

LOL, correct, it is garbage.  Welcome to Android!

I have the same issue on my brand new LG G6. Spotify is not usable from my class 10 64gb sd card.takes like 30 seconds and then says Spotify is unresponsive and asks if I want to submit a report. If I go to phone settings and eject my sd card it works as normal.
