Hi,
I've been using Spotify on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus for a long time, but I've always had an issuse with Spotify randomly pauses the music, and I have to restart the song.
This has been a problem since Android 4.0.2 up to 4.1.1 Jelly bean.
Is this something Spotify is aware off?
Please fix this, I'm tired of this being a problem, because I'm actually paying for this service.
I'm sure this is something I'm not alone with.
Thanks
Atle

THANK GOD!!!! I was beginning to think I was the only one having this issue!!
I've got the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and also have the same stupid, pausing issue. It's very annoying when you're out for a run and have to keep stopping to faff about with re-starting your music!
These are again, DOWNLOADED & OFFLINE playlists so no syncing or dropping signal issues. Also, I'm the only person who has access to my spotify account so I know it's not running anywhere else. I've changed the password twice in case it was being hacked etc. No joy at all.
I have access to Deezer mobile through my phone contract and have never had this problem with that platform so it's clearly not a phone issue. I would much, much rather use Spotify but seriously, what's the point if it doesn't work???
I saw a recent update appear on the Play store and eagerly went to d/l it thinking perhaps this issue or the one with huge amounts of date being used by the app when playing in online mode (even downloaded music) had been dealt with.... but no, it was another language pack. Really? That's the best you could do Spotify?? Nothing to sort out these issues, instead you work on another sodding language???? FFS!!!
Yeah im having this problem too.
I have Samsung Nexus S with JB 4.1.2 and latest Spotify 0.5.9.28 on Optus Network Australia.
It was working flawlessly on 3G for months.
Now it just cuts off half way through a song and stops, this is right after playing the first song.
Its almost like the phone going to sleep or its not getting data and then rather than keep trying it just stops.
As soon as I pick up the phone and unlock it, I can see I am connected to 3G and hitting play again, starts the song again from the start. If I quickly scrub further through the song it will quickly catch up to that point and keep playing. So its not a matter of just replaying cache and having the no network connection.
This is really annoying because it was working great before but now its unusable.
I might try re-installing it from scratch.
Same problem on 4.2 with Nexus 4. Randomly pause, i can't use Spotify anymore on my cellphone. I will switch on Spotify Unlimited until problem will be solve...
Im having the same issue on my Motorola Droid Bionic 4G. It only happens with a certain few songs, which is weird. It just goes silent and wont start again until I press play a few times.
Spotify, we pay a lot for your service. Please fix this immediately.
Happens to me too. My new Galaxy Tab Note 2 halts every now and then, maybe two or three times every half hour. It stoppes for two or three seconds. Sometimes it halts alltogether and has to be restarted. I have Android 4.1.1. I have the latest version of Spotify installed, and it is set to Normal speed, not high or extreme.
I have the same problem with Samsung Galaxy Tab but not with my HTC.
It's very annoying.
On my Samsung Galaxy S3 mini (latest android 4.1.2 and latest spotify 0.6.6.270) is exactly the same problem... songs are pausing randomly.
What is strange to me the most is that while I was using my old phone which was Samsung Galaxy Ace with Cyanogen Mod 10.1 there was completely no problem with spotify.
Spotify can you please fix that? This makes application useless right now when even two or three times playing one track I have to restart it.
I was facing the same issue on my Galaxy S3 with Android 4.3. All my music was downloaded and was still having such pause issues.
I just cancelled the premium subscription and moved to Google Play. Its not worth paying $10 for below par service.
Developers, if you ever read this, please take your customers seriously!!!
I don't think it is a Spotfy issue. It has to do with the phone and the operating system.
Other apps do the same thing for me eg. siriusxm, pandora google music , etc.
Zeppelin_82, you made my day.
I have been struggling with my tablet (BQ Maxwell Lite, Android 4.0) for the whole afternoon trying to figure out what was causing Spotify to pause randomly. Using my tablet in a very similar way as you were using your phone, connected to my stereo at home with an audio cable, Premium user. It turns out that in my case it was also because of running the volume all the way cranked, turning it down just one bit solved the issue.
Hope this helps any other users with the same issue.
I have the same issue with my phone. Every single day I listen to Spotify on my phone and it's never been a day when this does not occur.
I have also noticed that Spotify randomly closes after pausing the music: I have to unlock my phone with pin every time i press the power-button, and in lock-screen I can control Spotify with the widget and my phones standard earplugs. Sometimes when changing the song, Spotify pause the music and close the widget, so that I have to unlock my phone and start Spotify again. Luckily, when I open Spotify the song is still paused and I don't have to start the song from the beginning. At first I thought this happened because I had an old version of Android (4.3), but it is still happening with 4.4.2.
How can Spotify have missed this? It's not like the Note II is a unpopular phone nobody use ...
Phone: Samsung Galaxy Note II
OS: Android 4.3 and Android 4.4.2 (first 4.3 and then OTA-updated 4.4.2).
Spotify-version: Always the latest public version.
Has this been resolved? Seriously ready to move on to another music player - it's to the point where it pauses in every song I play. Anyone know what's going on?

Hi. Have you tried a clean install?
NOTE: You will lose all preferences & offline playlists in doing this!
Uninstall the app from Settings - Apps then scroll to the Spotify app and tap on it, then press 'Uninstall' (or any other way you usually uninstall apps).
Once done using a file manager (such as ES File Explorer) make sure that the below folders are deleted (the second one may be still remaining from the older version of Spotify):
/Android/data/com.spotify.music
/Android/data/com.spotify.mobile.android.ui
Note: - Make sure to check both Emulated/0/ AND the /ext_sd/ locations for these folders as they could be on Internal memory or/and external SD card.
When all folders are removed go to the play store and install the Spotify Music app again (Direct Link).
Official guides for a clean reinstallation here
If using an external sd card to store your cache (Offline Playlists) on Android 4.4.2+ then please read instructions in the thread here: [Android 4.4.2+]Cache on external SD card is possible
Is there an update or something comming soon to fix this?
This happens a few times each day. It doesn’t matter if I’m online or offline.
I have tried to reinstall the app several times with different setting in the streaming quality and also the download quality.
Im using an Xperia z3 compact running on android 4.4.4.
Hey guys, I was struggling with this issue for a while, but was finally able to resolve it. Every song I played was pausing randomly at different spots, and playing could only be resumed if I manually placed the play bar over another part of the song. Since Spotify needs a SD card to store caches, and the songs downloaded for ofline playing, I decided to put a different micro SD card to see if the problem got fixed with that. It actually did! It got completely fixed! My SD card was indeed causing the problem. I was using a Sandisk Ultra 64GB (red and grey formatted with the exFat file system) on my Galaxy Note III running KitKat. This card was giving me some problems with my pictures too as they were randomly getting corrupted. I'm surprised because it was brand new and barely used. I stepped down by replacing it with a Kingston Class 10, 32GB micro SD. After I installed that card, Spotify was working great with no issues as it always did. No issues with corrupted pics either!
I recommend you to take a look at your SD card. Either try to reformat it or replace it altogether. Your issue might be there as it was for me.
I'm having the same problem here, i don't know why, it happens in online and offline mode.
Need some help, it's really annoying,
Im using the latest spotify version Android version 5.0.2 in a xperia z1 phone.
