Spotify randomly stops playing while in offline mode

Spotify randomly stops playing while in offline mode

My Question or Issue

Spotify randomly stops playing music and podcasts. This only happens when the device does not have an internet connection. This happens regardless whether Spotify set to offline mode or not. Every other music app I have works fine offline so its definitely something wrong with Spotify. Here is what I tried so far:

  1. Restart the device
  2. Clear Spotify's cache
  3. Deleting and redownloading music and podcasts
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the app (along with redownloading 20GB of data yay)
  5. Remove Spotify from the 'Optimize battery usage'

A lot of people have this problem and it really seems is some seriously misguided attempt to force the users to stay online rather than an actual bug.

Hey there @user-removed!

Thanks for reaching out here on the Community. We're sorry to hear this is happening to you and we'll do our best to help.

When users stumble upon issues with their offline files, we usually recommend trying a clean reinstall which is a bit different than a regular one as it should remove any old files that might be casing trouble.

If you use an SD-card make sure that's formatted as external storage. Take a look here for more info.

In case the issue persists, could you let us know if you experience this on other devices as well?

Keep us posted on how it goes. Give us a shout if you need any more help.

Take care!

As I said in my original post, I have already done that. And even if that solved the problem, deleting and redownloading gigabytes of data is an extremely poor solution.

Offline downloads is a premium feature which you expect people to pay for yet you cannot be bothered to make it work properly.
