Spotify refuses to play songs for more than a second

I have the app on my Samsung Galaxy S6 and was using it without incident during the day. I just went to play a song now and it plays nothing from my saved songs or any song for more than a second before pausing. There is no sound and I don't know how to fix it. I unistalled and reinstalled, logged in and out but nothing.
I wouldn't even bother attempting to solve the problem were it not for the fact that I just paid my premium subscription so want my money's worth.
