My Question or Issue

I have local files of music that are unavailable in the Spotify library showing on my PC as being "Spotify library" versions, and those same songs are being downloaded to my Android device, but aren't being shown as downloaded on the app playlist.

You can see in the following images:

  • The Album listing on Spotify, greyed out to indicate it's not available for streaming
  • The legally purchased MP3 download of said album in my PC Local File list
  • One of the local file tracks in a playlist I created, shown with white as if it were a "Spotify library" version of the song, even though that album is not available for streaming and that playlist entry came from my local file list
  • This same playlist on my Android device, showing that everything has been downloaded except for that one song, even though after testing, it was indeed downloaded to the device

Here's the thing: Even though that particular track doesn't show as being downloaded, it apparently has been, because it plays just fine both offline and with the Android device in Airplane mode.

This isn't a catastrophic bug obviously, but clearly something isn't quite right, both with the PC version and how it handles local files that are unavailable for streaming, and downloaded copies of tracks onto an Android device.

I hope someone at Spotify might address this at some point in the future.
