Spotify starts playing alone...

Spotify starts playing alone...

Good morning.

I have been reading some posts and I couldn't find any solution yet.

When I open Spotify it starts playing the last song I was listening to. It usually provoques a "crash" on Android auto so I need to go to apps menu and force the app stop. However it is annoying to have to do it all the time.

I have a Oneplus 10 PRO

Android 13.1

Spotify version 8.8.82.634

I'd appreciate if someone helps me.

I tried reinstalling Spotify app, android auto app, waze app, debugging USP option, and other...

I have been reading and Google Play Music has an option that says "Do not allow any external device start playing (Car, bluetooth, wired)"

do you know if there is a similar option for Spotify? If don't please allow me to recommend its )If someone from Spotify is in here)

Hi there @juanignaciososa,

Thanks for reaching out.

This is a setting controlled by the phone's operating system and not Spotify. Try the following settings:

  • Settings Advanced Features 》Android Auto 》(Uncheck) Automatically resume media
  • Settings Advanced Features 》Android Auto 》(Uncheck) Wireless Android Auto

This should stop the playback from starting on its own. If the crashes on Android Auto continue, consider checking out this thread.

Hope this helps.

Hey there,

Thanks for your replies and for the info shared.

Would you mind sending us a video recording of this behavior? You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.

On another note, can you replicate this behavior if you open a different account on the affected device? You can ask for the account of a relative or a friend to open it on your device and check.

Lastly, we'd like to gather as much information as possible. Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.

Keep us in the loop!

I had to reduce the quality of the video. I hope it's understandable.

I'm not sure if it is understandable that when I opened Spotify after turning off the radio (after I connected it for the first time) The music started alone.

Sent the video you asked me form

Hi @juanignaciososa,

Thank you very much for the video. It helped us understand this issue much better. Could you confirm if the same happens with a different account as suggested by @AlejaR

Thanks in advance.

Being honest I have not tried it yet since I don't have frequently other phone with Spotify.

I'm going to try with my wife's phone

I tried a few times with my wife's cellphone and I haven't had this issue.
(Oppo reno 10 5G running Android 13.1)

Is it possible that the problem is related to Oneplus phones? I wouldn't
like to, but do you think it would be necessary to restore completely my
phone?

I'm not sure when butr also with Android 14 (which is an update I'm
expectant with) might solve some problem?

Thanks so much for your cooperation!

Could you try with your wife's account on your mobile phone OnePlus? This will help us understand if the issue is account- or device-related.

Keep us updated.
