Spotify updates causing Pioneer headunit to not track songs forward or back

I'm currently using version 8.4.77.779 because it allows my One Plus 6T connecting via bluetooth to the Pioneer headunit. With this version, I am able to track songs forward and back with ease. However, when I update to the latest spotify app, I'm only able to track ONCE forward and that's it. I can't go back or forward multiple times. My phone and headunit is updated to the latest software/firmware. I didn't have this issue until earlier this year. I emailed your tech support for nearly 2-3 days to figure out the issue only to find out someone else had a similar issue and downgrade to a lower spotify version. I told tech support to let their software engineers know the issue but after months of new updates I found no change. As of today, I still use the same version because it's the only version that works with my setup. My headunit is a Pioneer AVH-4200NEX. Phone is a One Plus 6T. 

Keep in mind, last year I had NO issues. I updated every single Spotify update there was but it was this year sometime around March or April where the issue started to arise.
