Streaming on Android phone

Streaming on Android phone

Just started using a few weeks ago.  Create the playlist on my computer, installed app on mobile phone and started using.  But I noticed the songs were downloaded to my phone instead of streaming.  I want to stream instead.  How is this suppose to work?

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

Have you marked those playlists for offline usage on your device?

Thanks for the response.  No, they are not marked as offline from the pc Spotify application.

When you say they are being downloaded instead of streamed, do you mean that Spotify appears to be using storage space on your device?

The Spotify application on all platforms will automatically cache (temporarily store) tracks which you have recently listened to, or you listen to often in order to reduce bandwidth requirements on the network, and save on data usage for customers.

If that storage every gets too large, you can do the following to remove those temporary files on android:

Exit the Spotify app, go into your device's Settings, Apps, Spotify, then tap Clear data and Clear cache.

I think I see.  I must have used the Download Playlist button from the phone app.  I undownloaded the playlist.  Thanks.
