Loved spotify when i got a free premium membership as an incentive offer from rogers. however, this latest update has destroyed all love for this app. I'm using it on my Galaxy S5.

 

1. only plays 1 song then nothing! can't even shut down the app and reopen it to make it work. plus i typically use it while driving through my blue tooth to  my car stereo so that makes that even more annoying.

 

2. keeps logging me out whenever i close the app.

3. i have to re-download every song every time i close the app.

 

4. i keep it in offline mode and download via wifi only when i am not at home and not downloading.  yesterday at work (no wifi, but app hasn't been used in days due to the above issues and has been in offline) i got a data usage warning on my phone, i went into my settings to see where the data was being used from as i wasn't using my phone. and it show me that Spotify had used 1.72 GBs in about 20 minutes in Background data! I immediately uninstalled the app, and thought i was fine until yet again another warning msg came up... checked it again, and sure enough "removed app" ... 1.88 back ground data, so it used another .16GB while uninstalled.  I went and cleared all my cache, and ulimately had to turn of my data capabilities.. at least until my rollover for next month in 2 weeks as thanks to this, i have no data left...

 

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE UPDATE this app never had any of these issues in the 4 months i have had premium up until this latest update happened.

Hi,

for the issue #1 I suggest you:

- select all songs in the playlist
- rightclick and select "unlink track"
-- this will cause Spotify to "forget" the location of songs on your HDD that are already available on the Spotify servers; instead of playing them from your computer, Spotify will stream them. If you have premium, you can also download the playlist if you prefer not to stream songs, and Spotify will keep a cached copy.

The problem seems to only happen when I have a local copy of a file that Spotify also has on its servers; if this problem is happening for you when streaming songs, this solution won't work.

These are being used in a playlist that has been downloaded and set as available offline... i use the android app on my Galaxy S5...

For number one, I had the same issue, I talked with the help desk and apparently the new update had caused the cache to be corrupted and disconnected from the app, saving contents twice on my phone and causing said issue. 

 

To solve it, you need to go to your account online (browser) and reset (aka remove) all your offline devices and do a reinstall of the app. You'll need to redownload the songs, but this seems to have solved the problem for me.
