Hello.
I started using Spotify Premium this week and until now everything seemed to work just fine.
The problem however is: when I'm at work I have to use my mobile data connection since our WiFi is connected to the internet via proxy and Android is cannot connect to the internet through a proxy with anything else but the Chrome app.
So I want to download a few tracks over my mobile data connection but Spotify says in order to download or sync tracks, I have to enable 2G/3G syncing in the options.
But it IS actually turned on and my data connection works, every other app works just fine.
Turning off and on the option to download over 2G/3G seems to have absolutely no effect whatsoever on how Spotify behaves.
Can someone help or, if available, point me to the solution?
Thanks in advance

Can you stream content which isn't in any of your playlists fine on mobile data?
I just checked, yeah, after a few secs of buffering it started playing as usual.
By the way: I just went outside the building where I work in to get a better singal.
When I got a better signal outside, I disabled syncing over 2G/3G, forced Spotify to quit via the Android app manager, then started it up again, went to my tracks to see if the message still appeared.
It did, so I switched syncing to on again and it started downloading immediately.
Could it be that there is a restriction in Spotify that allows it to download and sync only if your signal strengh is 3G+ ?
Hi Peter, I started having the same problem this week. I sometimes download albums when I get into a 4G area, but now it says,"turn on 2g/3g syncing" everything seems to be turned on, but it wont download! Spotify will play live over 2g/3g,and other items will download. Can you help?

How to you switch on syncing 2g/3g? I can't find that option on my Android

It's been renamed to 'Sync over Cellular'. You should see it half-way down the Spotify Setings screen underneath the sync qualities section
As stated above, what worked for me was also to:
1. Turn OFF 2G/3G sync.
2. Force the app to shut down via android app manager
3. Start the app again.
4. Turn ON 2G/3G sync
I have exactly the same problem with Spotify. Its streaming without wifi but if I try to download it says change settings to download over Cellular.
Needless to say its activated (green) in setttings.
