My Question or Issue
For months every time I open Spotify on my phone, Waze pops up at the top of the screen and most of the time it also opens completely in a new screen. I have to close Waze and then exit the popup on the Spotify screen before using Spotify.
I have tried clearing cache and removing permissions in Spotify, which didn't work. Then I went to my online Spotify account to remove Waze permission completely, which worked, but as soon as I connected to Waze in Spotify navigation, I had the same issue! This is infuriating! Please help!
Hey @Ipearson,
Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.
It sounds like you've tried a couple of things already, but let's try some more troubleshooting.
We'd suggest that you log out > restart your device > log back in to see if that'll make a difference.
If you're still experiencing this, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app on your device. It'll get you the latest app version with all necessary updates and fixes and remove any corrupted files from previous installations. Give your device a quick restart as well before you open the newly installed app.
If the above doesn't help - let us know. We'll be happy to assist you further 🙂
I have the same issue. Reinstalling does not fix it.
Hi there @darraghooi,
Thanks for the reply. Can you send us a video of the behaviour and some screenshots of the relevant settings in both apps?
Thanks in advance.
Hey @darraghooi,
Thanks for getting back to us.
This behavior is expected if the apps are linked, which seems to be the case based on the video you've sent us.
We can suggest that you remove access from the Apps page and not link them after that.
Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you.
Why would Spotify prompt me to go back to the Waze app if the Waze app isn't even open? How is that expected behaviour rather than a bug?
That's the most bullocks "expected behavior" I've ever heard. That should only be expected behavior when it connects to car audio. And don't give me that's not capable, because Spotify only launches in car mode when it's connected to the Bluetooth radio transmitter in my vehicle, no other Bluetooth devices. Why on earth would I want Waze to open when I'm trying to listen to music at work? Or home? Or LITERALLY ANYWHERE I'm not actively driving. Fix it instead of writing it off as "expected behavior."
Spotify has been slowly getting worse and worse and it may actually be time to switch to Apple music or YouTube music. Calling a clearly annoying and useless bug an "expected behavior" and "feature" is a new low. And then saying the"fix" is "don't connect the apps again" is laughable. I know for a fact audible doesn't have this "feature" when the apps are connected.
I have also started experiencing this problem. It's only started happening in the past 6 weeks or so for me. Never had this issue prior so no, I don't believe it is "expected behaviour" - that's a load of horse **bleep** IMHO.
Please sort it out.
JUST started for me a couple days ago. Must be a new update or something. I have used Waze and Spotify together for years but this never happened before where Spotify force-opened the Waze app.
Jumping in on this thread to say that this has been happening to me as well for some time.
We suggest you give us the option to disable the banner all together, it's just annoying and serves no purpose other than taking up screen space. Thanks.
