What can I do to bring back the widget?

Apple Music supports a widget. I do not like Apple Music, but it offers as much music as Spotify. I would like to keep Spotify, but the removal of the widget I used everyday is a kind of like a slap in the face as a customer. I have faith the Spotify team will listen to the community outrage, but in the case it doesn't, I will surely cancel my subscription and convince my friends and family to do the same. 

In the mean time, what can I do to push for the return of the widget?

it is absolutely ridiculous that they removed the widget. But there is an app that provides a widget that workes even better then the Spotify one. You can change the background, font settings, and more. It is called "Abiquity Music Widget"

The best way is to switch for other service.

Tidal, Apple Music, Google Play Music, Deezer have widgets.

Most of them have free trial, same have free version and cost of premium is usually the same. 

Personally i already cancelled subscription and choose Play Music but it depends on what do you want to listen.

Good news - the widget is back! Reinstall to make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device.
