My Question or Issue

I can connect to my Echo devices and groups using the windows desktop app and an ipad, but I cannot see them when using my android phone.  I can see my Chromecast and Roku devices on the phone app but none of my echoes.

If I start music on an echo group from the computer, the group is indicated on the android app.  I can also pause the music from the phone but cannot restart the music on the echo devices.

Why is this capability missing from the android app?

Hey there @beeaitch,

Thank you for your post here in the Community.

Can you confirm if the devices is connected to the same network? It would also be great if you can try with another hotspot.

If that doesn't do the trick - try with a clean reinstall to make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

Keep us posted 🙂

Cheers!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Yes, the phone and echo devices are on the same network.  I wouldn't have asked the question otherwise.

The clean install seemed to solve the problem, but that is a really crappy solution.  I had a lot of downloaded music.  Of course, the clean install wiped this music from the phone.  Because Spotify will never download consistently, it has been weeks now and I haven't re-downloaded the same amount of music.

Hey @beeaitch,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

We're glad that you can connect to your Echo devices from the phone now. Most likely some of the app's files had gotten damaged and we're causing these connectivity issues. Reasons why this could happen include battery optimization and cache clearing apps. It's a good idea to make sure that Spotify is excluded from any such services to lower the chance of this happening again. Keep in mind that if you haven't downloaded any such apps yourself, some smartphones have them preinstalled.

Unfortunately with a clean reinstall the offline collection must be redownloaded. We understand how this can cause some frustration and like to help with that. Could you explain what you mean with the download being inconsistent? Does the issue appear also when connecting to another network? We'd also appreciate it if you shared the approximate number of tracks you're trying to download.

Keep us posted, we'll be on the lookout for you reply.
