Yamaha RX-V675 don't show up as a device in spotify connect

Solved!

Yamaha RX-V675 don't show up as a device in spotify connect

I have a Yamaha RX-V675 with an internet connection and connected to my router and an iPhone and Galaxy s4 both with spotify premium connected to the same router in the same network, but the receiver didn't show up as a device when i touch the button for spotify connect.

Already installed the latest firmware 1.46

Did a factory default on my receiver

Checked the connection in my network, all devices are in the same network and IP range. Yamaha receiver app works on both devices and i can also stream music with dlna from the galaxy.

Did a reset of my router, checked if upnp was on and also tried a factory default.

Still the receiver didn't show up as a device in spotify connect.

Found the solution, but don't know how I did that......

installed an aditional wifi router and connected de amp hardwired to it and my phones wireless.

Made the connection and it worked.

THen I unplugged the aditional router and connected the amp to the ubee router and the phones also, it keeps on working.

to be sure, rebooted everything and still working.

There's only one strange thing, even without a wifi connection on the phones, only 3g, Its still working. This is something I don't want security wise. Does this mean everybody can control my amp?

Do you use right input in it?

Yes I choose the spotify input channel on my Yamaha

The right input shouldnt be necessary. I see my yamaha receiver on spotify even when it's in standby. "Network standby " that is. Is this feature enabled on your rx v675?

Network standby is on just checked it. Also dubble checkt by turning on and of the device using the web remote.

Does the connect app need specific ports to be open? Just reset my router to factory default again but no results

Hmmm maybe download bonjour browser and see if you see your avr as a spotify connect device there. My spotify connect device show up there. Just to check that the avr isnt the faulty device

Another thing, have you tried clearing cache + force close on the spotify app on your android? That have helped me when devices dont show up!:)

Pretty sure port 4070 needs to be open for Spotify to work, devices should be able to talk to each other providing you have uPnP enabled on your router though.

Port 4070 is open, devices do talk to each other because the Yamaha app on both Ios and Android are working, even is dlna playback from all my devices.

It came to my attention that also airplay isn't showing the device

I had the same Airplay issue with my Thomson gateway ( tg789vn) . Had to bridge the Thomson and use another router for Airplay to work. Dlna/ yamaha remote app etc was working fine, but no airplay.

Seems the same problem, I'm using an UBEE router, saw some other people having issues with this combination and airplay.

I guess when airplay works, spotify connect also works (not sure)

Still no solution found for it, some say turn off the firewall (done) others turn multicast on (done), I can't set the Ubee in bridging mode, another modem isn't an option.

Unlucky! Hope you find a solution some day

A bizarre solution but glad you got it working. Only folk on your wifi network or with your login details (over 3g/4g) can connect to your amp.

I think you have to be on same wi-fi the first time you connect.

So the amp is paired with my spotify account in some way? Or is it paired with my phone?
But it still means my amp is reachable from the internet and also can be turned on from the internet so im corious what security is used to avoid others from connecting to my amp.

Strangest of all even when i turn on the firewall as highest as possible i can still control it using 3g...

It will be tied to your Spotify account (it will actually be logged in, even in standby mode so you can turn it on easily), so you can control it via 3G once it is set up, but obviously you need to be logged into your Spotify account on whatever device you are using.

So actualy my problem isnt solved yet 😉 😉 only by connecting once using another router the amp is tied to my account on the spotify servers and therefore controllable by my other spotify devices. As long as the amp and phones have an internet connection...

Great to know, will share it with some people i know all have the same problem using ubee routers from our dutch isp ziggo. But first will test if this solution is holding for the next couple of days 🙂

The problem with this routers is multicasting and some some other protocols are not working when combining wireless and wired devices. Heard some cisco and thompson routers have the same issue so this might me a solution for that users also 🙂

Just out of curiousity- is the amp discoverable on Airplay too now, after your little workaround?:)

No not discoverable on airplay. Bonjour protocol still not working on my router between wired and wireless. Only airplay between wired devices or only between wireless.
It worked on the other router. But the spotify connect music quality is much better so decided not to use airplay.
