Hey there, thanks for asking in the Community!

Could you share a screen recording of the same? It will help me take a closer look at what's wrong. Also, include your app version in the reply.

Spotify version 8.9.58.572

Downloads (podcasts) only play once and are then unavailable. Still shown in Playlist but green down arrow is goes away immediately after play finishes.

Connections: WiFi Off (Android)

Storage: Offline Listening

Data Saver settings: Automatic, Down audio only, & Stream audio only

Thanks for the details @captainkurt.

Have you done any troubleshooting so far? If not then I recommend removing the downloads from Settings > Storage > Remove all downloads and then giving Spotify a detailed clean reinstall which helps resolve different performance issues. You can follow the steps here.

If there's no change, let us know if this happens only with podcasts and if you're using an SD-card.

We'll be on the lookout 🙂

I have tried clearing cache and data and uninstalling and reinstalling. Downloads become unplayable after playing on my other phone too: Spotify 8.9.58.572 on a Samsung Galaxy S10+ SM-G975U1 software is up to date. Neither phone has an SD card.

Hey @captainkurt,

Thanks for the info!

We tried reproducing the issue on our end but to no avail. As @Amayy  has asked, could you send us a video recording of the issue or a link to one, uploaded to e.g. Google Drive/ YouTube etc. so that we can take a look at what's happening on your end?
Many thanks!

Its very simple: Once a downloaded podcast plays, either in a playlist or
Your Episodes, it is no longer available to play offline. I have a Premium
Individual account, three phones and two iPads. This issue is the same on
all three phones (podcasts downloaded separately to each phone). Playlists
and Your Episodes are synced fine. Phones are logged into Spotify only one
at a time. Offline Access is turned on.

Hey there @captainkurt,

Thanks for your reply and for all the info shared so far.

Let us add some further insights here. Are the episodes added to both the Your Episodes folder and your playlists? If yes, then this behavior might be occurring by the Your Episodes settings.

On the Your Episodes folder, you can find a gear icon at the top. Those settings allow you to manage the episodes saved there to be removed after you finish playing then. In other words, this means that episodes that are downloaded and saved in that folder will be removed once played. At the same time, they get removed as a download.

In that sense, if you're listening to a specific episode (while using offline mode) that is part of another downloaded playlist, then it'll get removed, not as a track of the playlist, but of the downloads. That is why you see the episode grayed out. In that sense, once the app gets an internet connection again, the episode will download automatically in that playlist.

That being explained, we'd suggest you go to Your Episodes settings to see if you've set the Removed played episodes option as After playing. If yes, try using other of the options listed there if you want to continue removing episodes there after a while. You can also set the Never option, so the content there never gets removed. Remember these settings sync across devices, so that might explain why this is happening on all the devices you mentioned.

If perhaps this behavior continues after changing those settings, then it'd be great if you send us a short video recording of what's happening, so we can better visualize what you're mentioning. That way we can also try and reproduce your exact steps. You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can watch it.

Keep us in the loop!

Thanks Aleja! That fixed my issue.

I knew it had to be a something simple like a setting somewhere.
