google cast refuses to play specific song

I noticed this morning when trying to cast to my nest display that it is struggling significantly to play specific songs.

 

  • If I start the song elsewhere and cast to it, the cast screen will come up but the screen will remain blank
  • If I open spotify from the display and try to select the playlist that song is on, The song will be substituted
  • Sometimes the substitution is by the same artist but alot of the time it's just genre adjacent
  • I rebooted the display, same issue
  • It seems to be related to dynamic playlists where they're out of sync or something between my local devices and what ever the list is on the server as if I have the song saved in a static playlist it will play but not in the spotify playlists

Hey @xatn7,

 

Thanks for your reply and for all the info shared.

 

In this case, we suggest you log out and log in twice onto your Spotify account; this way the system will force a resync of your account.

 

If that doesn't do the trick, would you mind checking if you notice any difference by changing the internet connection you're using? You can create a hotspot with your mobile device to check.

 

Lastly, can you share with us a video recording of the behavior you described? This'll help us visualize it better.

I think it was the autogenerated Indie Mix I have: 

Indie Mix | Spotify Playlist

Specific songs of note:  

Playing it this morning there wasn't an issue but the the playlist had also updated since then.
I think I mentioned it above but I'm assuming the playlist on my computer was out of sync with the playlist my smart display fetched.
