In response to a "hack" that one person suffered, in which no valuable data was stolen, they decided to force an update to a new app that cut off support for a number of subscribers using certain chipsets, and caused everyone to redownload all offline music, while not deleting old songs from the phone.

Moderators have refused to answer why this "hack" would lead to this chain of events, and how the Spotify development team was able to create an update so quickly, considering it typically takes them months to fix the simplest problems (often of their own creation). The answer may be "by cramming in as many mistakes as possible." Many people have found other streaming services that work on their device, such as Google All Access, rdio, Beats, and Deezer.
