My Question or Issue

So I've been uploading local files to Spotify through syncing/local file upload with no problems up until recently. My Spotify app won't recognize any new music I download to my phone anymore, and it doesn't sync any local files that I add to playlists through my desktop. All the newly downloaded music and previously downloaded music are stored in the same folder and are the same type of file (.mp3), but nothing I seem to do works.

I've gone through this forum multiple times to solve this problem and none of the solutions I could find worked, not even a clean reinstall on both my computer and phone could fix this problem (or Reddit, lol.)

I understand that Spotify has changed the way they manage local files and while there are several workarounds for iOS devices to keep playing their locally stored music, I'm pretty frustrated with the lack of options for Android users. Please help!!

Hey @sodacolas,

Thanks for posting your conundrum in the Community! 🙂
In order to play your local files via your Android device, you have to physically have the said local files on the mobile device itself.
Local files do not sync across platforms and will not show up on a mobile device if added via the desktop app.

I hope this cleared things up, but if you happen to have any further questions, don't hesitate to come back to us!
