playback stops when spotify app is not the open app on screen

for the past week or two, Spotify has been randomly stopping playback when i have another app open with Spotify in the background. i am unable to find a way to fix this but it is very frustrating when i am driving, working, or working out and the music just stops.

Just to confirm, have you already performed a clean reinstall of the app on your device? Also, have you made sure that Spotify has the relevant permissions to run in the background?

If the above doesn't work, could you send over the make, model, OS version and the Spotify version currently running on the affected device?
