I have an artist set to NOT play using the "Don't Play This Artist" feature from the artist page. However, a playlist I am listening to features this artist and the songs do not skip when I am listening to the playlist. In the playlist itself I cannot select the songs by the artist, they are greyed out since I have the artist blocked. When going to the artist's page I can see that they are still set to not play, despite currently playing from the playlist. Why are these songs still playing?

Appreciate the cooperation @wickybee!
We checked out the video, but couldn't reproduce this behavior, so let's continue investigating together.
Could you let us know if this happens only in Shuffle mode or even if you've disabled it?
If you haven't done this already I recommend giving Spotify a clean reinstall with the steps here as corrupted cache can cause different performance issues.
If it doesn't make any difference then you can create a new playlist and add a few songs of the artist to test if they'll be played there or skipped in the queue. It's possible that there's an issue with the playlist itself.
Lastly, let us know if this happens in the Web Player on your computer as well and even when you're listening on another device.
Hope to hear from you soon 🙂
Hey @wickybee,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.
That's an odd behavior since artists you've set as "Don't play this artist" should not be playing. in addition, if a song is featuring the artist, but it's not the main artist of the song, it's possible that the system still shows it, but it should skip it.
To continue investigating this behavior, would you mind confirming if you're using the Connect feature to play the tracks from another device? Also, is this happening with different playlists and tracks or is it just with one?
Lastly, could you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to watch it).
We'll be on the lookout.
Thank you for responding, Oscar! I can confirm that I'm not using the connect feature, I am hitting "play" from the playlist on the desktop app. I haven't experienced this with other playlists (this is the only playlist that I listen to that features the artist).
I was able to screen record an instance of this happening. In the recording you can see that the artist I have blocked from playing is NCT 127, and they are the main artist of the song. When I shuffled the playlist, the artist's songs were added to the queue, but instead of skipping the song when it came up next, the song played.

(I received an error saying that I didn't have permission to share video on Community, so I have broken the hyperlink. It should still link to the video on google drive if you copy/paste it though!)
Thank you so much for your attention to this matter!

Great news, the clean re-install seems to have fixed the issue!! I followed the steps for the reinstall and so far the songs are back to skipping as they should!
The issue was occurring with both shuffle mode and when shuffle was disabled, and it was only occurring on windows app. Thank you so much for all the help, I appreciate the fast responses 🙂
