“Clean” versions and written Lyrics

“Clean” versions and written Lyrics

Hello-

I have a family premium plan. We have been blocking explicit content for our child who is 10. He has been listening to “clean versions” of songs which apparently meet the standards for not being blocked for content, but we discovered today that the written lyrics still contain all the profanity. How is this a clean version? Is there a way to turn off written lyrics? Why isn’t Spotify blocking the written lyrics in “clean” versions of songs. Parents want a way to keep their kids protected. And the “kids app” blocks too much for an older kid.
thanks

Hey @Lucian161,

Thanks for reaching out!

The explicit lyrics on clean versions of songs should be masked as well.
Could you send us examples of clean versions that contain explicit lyrics? We'd love to take a further look into this and help sort things out 🙂

On another note, please keep in mind that the minimum age requirement for the use of Spotify is 13 years of age.
The Kids app is recommended for anyone under the minimum age and, as a workaround to its regular restrictions, you can create a Shared Playlist, where you can add any songs of your own choosing. More info about this can be found here.

Cheers!
