Home feed interface changes are terrible

Home feed interface changes are terrible

The new changes and the single large icons are beyond useless and go right into just terrible changes. No more recently listened, instead it’s curated content all the way through. The appeal of Spotify is to listen to what we want, not to be constantly advertised to. Either give users an option to use classic Spotify or just stop. Spotify wasn’t broken, this is just a way to try to influence users on what to listen to and limit options. If we can’t opt out of this weird advertising filled update, then I’m just switching to another app. Nothing is worse than having your choices limited or paying to be told what to listen to.

If like me you’re annoyed at the UI changing to an advertisement based system and the lack of good suggestions, consider switching to Tidal. It’s about the same price, has plenty of music, and the algorithm there is still good. The UI is also solid, letting you see your recent plays and isn’t purely designed to influence listening by only including Spotify curated playlists on the home page. Overall I wish Spotify would stop and just let people have what they pay for, a music app, but tidal is a great alternative since we can’t have that anymore.

It's normal to feel a bit odd when we see significant changes in an app we use daily, like Spotify.

Sometimes, visual alterations can take a little time to get used to.

In the case of Spotify, the changes and the larger icons you mentioned are an attempt to improve how you interact with the app. Developers are always working to make the experience more enjoyable and useful for all users.

The app is now offering curated content for you to listen to. This could be a way to discover new music and artists you might not have known about. The idea is to expand your musical horizons a bit while still enjoying what you already like.

Remember, these changes might be new to you, but over time, they may make more sense and even bring new features and experiences that you might enjoy. The Spotify team is constantly listening to user feedback and making adjustments based on that.

I know it can be frustrating when something you're used to suddenly changes. Instead of giving up or switching to another app, it might be a good idea to give it a bit more time to see how the changes fit into your routine. Sometimes, new things can turn out surprisingly good, even if they don't seem like it at first.

Nothing

The updates removed features I use daily, like recently played, and makes it harder to get into new music because I can’t just find it and replay it. Instead it’s listen once and save immediately or the song is gone forever. Spotify is actively hostile to finding new artists now. The recommended playlists were great for finding new music but with this update it’s all hot 100 songs and podcasts I’ve never heard of. I don’t need a recommendation for new Taylor Swift or the Barbie movie soundtrack.

Also I was part of the beta for the new changes and have had months to try them and decide how I felt about them. Condescendingly explaining how change works is just a weird mean thing to do to someone. You should consider how you interact and why you think that tone is effective or appropriate.

Wow man you made my day. Proof that there are people out there that aren’t entitled selfish drains. Thanks sir! Oh and John Cordial you’re a whiny baby and contribute nothing but opinions veiled as facts and you should just stop using the service if it doesn’t suit you. You don’t represent everyone, nor was Spotify made for you uniquely.

Wow what a terrible community. People have a right to express their opinion. Stay mad, weirdo.

Also no one said anything but that this is bad update that makes it harder to find new music. The sycophantic reply from roadie is the only one presented as fact. You can tell it’s sycophantic too because of the tone and the fact that he openly lies about it presenting more choices. The old UI recommended dozens of playlists per line, the new only has one and those album cards are extremely limited compared to the old system.

I know you think you’re above everyone simply because of your overinflated egos and whatever backward forum this “community” is but you’re not. People have a right to express how they feel. If you don’t like it, I hear North Korea is nice this time of year.

Swing and a miss. Forget the details about your stupid dissatisfaction or your interpretation of someone’s response. Expressing an opinion is fine, but you’re presenting your preferences as facts, as well as making demands. I was referring to how your dissatisfaction is being stated as a flaw in their system, as though you know more than they do. Also, nobody is preventing you from taking the time and making the app work for you with a little effort on your end- this unwillingness to go in and make intentional choices is bizarre. And it’s cool you’re funny to top it all off. The North Korea joke was hilarious. Your quick wit seems to be another thing you have going for you so keep nurturing these things because you’re special and deserve to be attended to and appreciated.

I’m not even going to read all that. Clearly you’re working very hard to read more into what I said than is there and you’re extremely triggered on Spotify’s behalf. Honestly if you can’t handle other people having opinions, maybe a forum meant to share opinions isn’t your place. You should consider what you’re doing and if Spotify really wants you to be such a horrible person to other users.

I hope you have a nice day

The community revolted over the last terrible UI/UX change and we won. This one isn't nearly as bad, but it isn't good and reduces usability. Removing the Recently Played carousel is as stupid as it was the first time they did it.

Is Spotify rolling out a new UI to some users again!? Please not! The last change was horrible. I also use ‘recently played’ a lot. Can you post a screenshot? Mine looks still the same and I’m curious what they have in mind this time.

This new songs added section is absolutely horrific.

I want music, not video or some Instagram story-like feed.

They should have some way of customising our profile to view what we want.

Hey spotify, please allow us to TUNE or edit our home feed. There keep being podcast suggestions I don't want based on podcasts I tried and DIDN'T like and it's super frustrating. I'm a premium subscriber and have been for a long time and I should have more control over what you are trying to feed me. The home feed large format tiles to swipe through are so frustrating. I know you've gotten TONS of feedback about this. Why is there no option for us to edit this ourselves? If you want to push it out, fine, but why can't we edit away from it?
