MISSING ALBUMS - Back to Normal(ish)

Solved!

MISSING ALBUMS - Back to Normal(ish)

I have mentioned this already in the 'Blur' topic, but this is important. Several albums have dissapeared from several artists, such as Blur, Daft Punk, Justice and David Bowie. Wonder if anyone's got any ideas if this is normal and will be fixed or we should be panicking. Or not. I am also dissatisfied that albums and songs are taken off at all, leaving those hideous repalcement tags. They're kinda annoying.

So anyway, any thoughts on this would be great Smiley Happy

Hey all,

Good news - this has been confirmed to be a technical issue, rather than a content takedown for the most part.

This means that once we've got the right bits and pieces sorted (some complicated techy stuff) the content should mostly be restored.

We're working directly with the labels to fix it - so it shouldn't take more than a few days at most.

It's all back! Take that, cynics!

Thank you everyone from the Mod team and others who contributed helpful information. Hopefully this won't happen again!

I have noticed this. Was very disappointed today to find that Daft Punk's Discovery had gone AWOL.

I hope this is a temporary thing...

I have also noticed.  I'm thinking they didn't actually lose them but there is an issue with the database (I hope that's it at least).

More albums gone today from Daft Punk, Blur and Coldplay. It better be a database thing...Smiley Mad

Logged in this morning to find that roughly half of David Bowie' catalogue is no longer available. Is this a temporary error, or does Spotify no longer have the rights? Because if so, this is a major loss for Spotify, and one that's having me rethinking my subscription.

Also Yeasayer's All Hour Cymbals... the person you talked to confirmed it was a database problem, as opposed to a licensing issue?

And now Gorillaz' Demon Days...

Apologies for the double post, but this is ridiculous.

I can access Demon Days though, it's popularity is kinda low though, maybe they re-added it?

I think it's a database problem considering the amount of artists that have gone, otherwise Spotify is doing REALLY badly. Try using the contact form (http://www.spotify.com/uk/about-us/contact/) and looking around the community forum for answers. Teamwork!

In addition to those mentioned, also gone are:

The Beach Boys - The Beach Boys Greatest Hits Vol. 1

Bikini Kill - Reject All American

The Decemberists - Five Songs EP

Everclear - Ten Years Gone: The Best Of Everclear

Faith No More - This Is It: The Best Of Faith No More

General Public - Classic Masters

Glen Campbell - Ghost On The Canvas

Heart - Bad Animals

Heart - Dreamboat Annie

Heart - Heart

Huey Lewis & The News - Greatest Hits

The Lemonheads - Lovey

Mazzy Star - So Tonight That I Might See

Meat Puppets - II

Meredith Brooks - Blurring The Edges

Moby - Body Shots

Neko Case - The Tigers Have Spoken

Pavement - Brighten The Corners

Pavement - Slanted & Enchanted

Pavement - Terror Twilight

Pavement - Quarantine The Past

Phish - Joy

The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land

R.E.M. - Document

Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Uplift Mofo Party Plan

Sandie Shaw - Hello Angel

Simple Minds - Glittering Prize 81/92

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - Hearts Of Oak

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - Shake The Sheets

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - The Tyranny Of Distance

ANSWERS NOW, SPOTIFY!!!

YOU CANNOT EXPECT PEOPLE TO PAY $9.99 PER MONTH FOR A SERVICE WHEN MUSIC SEEMS TO BE GOING MISSING QUICKER THAN IT'S BEING ADDED.

YOUR COMPETITORS DON'T SEEM TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM...WHY DO YOU?

YOUR CONTINUED LACK OF ATTENTION TO THIS ISSUE IS GOING TO COST YOU SUBSCRIBERS.

Your business model is failing, Spotify.  There is way too much music going missing lately and you seem like you don't want to address it...Maybe you've been too consumed with the "Play Button" or landing the Red Hot Chili Peppers catalog to notice, but whoever is minding the store isn't doing a very good job.  Albums are disappearing at a rapid rate and for those of us paying $9.99 a month for your service, this is a huge deal.  I would like to be able to rely on your service as my primary source for music, but given the way you operate your business, this just isn't possible.  As much as we all love discovering new music, being able to listen to old favorites is just as (if not more) important.  Please work (quickly) to restore *all* of the albums that have gone missing lately and be honest with users of your service when they can expect their return.  Oddly enough, your competitors don't seem to have this issue...

I've been noticing the same thing. Entire playlists of mine are completely empty.

Spotify, I hope you respond and let us know when to expect to have the music back.

Two albums mentioned that are missing I can access, Demon Days by Gorillaz and Fat of the Land by Prodigy. This would suggest the missing albums are definetly a database error not a liscensing issue (assuming we come from the same country, I'm UK btw.

Still, this is poor service, and Spotify have yet to acknowledge ANYTHING.

Okay, this is seriously disconcerting. I just signed up for Premium a few days ago, specifically because of the plethora of back-catalogues available form various artists, and they're all disappearing. If this doesn't get cleared up soon, I think I'll be looking into MOG or Rdio. . .

It is definitely a bit disconerning.

I'm still thinking it may be a technical issue.  Give it a few days and we'll see what happens.

Hey all,

Obviously this is a bit of a worrying issue, and hopefully it's just a technical issue of some kind.

I'll let you know when we've got a more definite answer for you or word on when the albums are back.

Stay tuned.

Thanks Richard!

I've noticed a few of the albums are back (some of the Daft Punk and M83 - Hurry Up We're Dreaming).  Although one thing that is strange is that you can't play them on mobile, only desktop (only tried M83 though).  I'm sure that'll be all worked out when everything is fixed.

Richard, could you please take a look at my list (posted earlier in the thread) and tell me which ones (if any) were the victims of content takedown?

Thanks!
