I agree! I've been trying to report metadata issues for years. Some minor, some major... at least I feel like. As a consumer and fan who also knows when something isn't correct about their favorite artists' metadata and try to go through the proper channels to report and it feels like it'll never be resolved. I've even tried to contact labels by phone and email, it's nearly impossible. This is something that shouldn't be that difficult for fans and consumers. All we are trying to do is help. Help our favorite artists and songwriters get the credit they deserve, their discographies in nice clear order, streams they deserve, and this brings more enjoyment to us fans and the consumer and more revenue to Spotify and other streaming platforms.
It shouldn't be an act of Congress to report a missing letter in a song, wrong songwriters attached to a song, miscredited artists, missing credits... yet it is extremely difficult. So, yeah, life-long fans of music, an artist, a genre will pick up on misinformation quick. All we ask is a more efficient and effective way to do that. For an industry that wants help fixing their metadata... give us fans a way to communicate directly, when I say that, I mean right to, a metadata specialist. Like @wsmyth has said, we can request the issue into a form from a "REPORT ERROR" tag maybe, which is already there in view credits screen, but that goes to Spotify for Artists, this would go to a metadata issues form, we would fill it out, upload the URL and then off it goes straight to a metadata specialist. The specialist can review it and then see if appropriate changes can be made.
I mean no disrespect to any of the Spotify staff, I feel like you all can only do as much as you can do. It's just frustrating, because you stare at something for years on a platform and it wouldn't take but a for seconds to fix, but that's nothing on you all. You can't, and this would help you all out more as well... less stress.
This is something that could possibly increase subscribers too, if this was a Premium Plan option.
Anyway the streaming platforms, artists, labels and fans would all benefit from it.
I apologize for the winded dialog.
Thank you!
