Hello everyone,
I can't listen to Metallica's Death Matgnetic album because it does not show up on artist page on my Windows desktop app (see attachment). The album shows up on the web player when I make a search but not at the desktop app, it is just not there. I'm from Turkey, is this some copyright issue? All other albums of Metallica is available for play but Death Magnetic is not there, meybe it has a different distributor in my country which Spotify has no agreement with. Still, it's a bummer. Can someone please explain this? Thank you.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hey @ilkayatil, thanks for posting!
Can you play this?
If the songs are grayed for you that means the album is not currently available in your country, but hopefully it may re-appear soon : )

The songs are grayed, I cannot play them. Also my desktop app says "This song is unavailable". I guess no death magnetic for me 😞
Thanks for your help 🙂
Yeah I know the feel when you're not able to play what you want!
Anyway you can import local files and play them in Spotify : )
Hey @Cptnbob,
Unfortunately, the album is not available in Turkey right now.
This is almost always a decision by the artists or their labels. Hopefully, it may re-appear soon, so stay tuned!
I still can not accept answers that are "waiting" or "soon to be resolved" about this topic.
I also wrote to Metallica about the subject, and I received an email stating that the problem originated from you (Spotify).
Why would I be a monthly member for a superb music listening platform that will not listen to the latest album of the band I am a big fan of Spotify quality?
In this country, this album is still on sale. There is no prohibition.
I would appreciate your urgent solution to the problem.
This problem is not very "Solved".
The problem isn't solved. I have been waiting for one year and there is no any update about Death Magnetic issue. As I understood that issue just happens in Turkey and I live in Turkey too. If there is a copyright problem then why the sake the other Metallica albums can be playable? That is to meaningless. Do something Spotify. I pay 13 TRY every month for you and you can't just re-appear the album. Shame on you.
I wrote to Metallica and got the same answer, there aren't any restrictions for the album on their side. The album is sold in Turkey, and available in Pandora, iTunes Music, etc. but not on Spotify. With lots of other missing artists/albums compared to these other music platforms, I am seriously planning to replace Spotify with one of these so at least I can receive a service worth the money I pay.
ACIN SU AMK ALBUMUNU DE DINLEYEK AMK
I am currently in USA and I am Turkish. The problem is still present, and I can confirm that if I login with another free account Unforgiven III does show up because I am in USA. I tried to change my location, but it requires that I change my payment method and says that it will only be available next term. This is too dumb, I don't have an American credit card, and this is clearly not a copyright problem. I think Metallica is unaware that this is actually on their side. I don't see why spotify would ban them as other titles of Metallica are available.
Paying money to listen musics and yet I can't listen the music I want. What's the meaning of spending money then? Also it's a shame that you guys(Spotify) don't have a clear answer or a solution for this problem although it is stated that it's not about Metallica's side.
What a bummer.
It's really annoying. I was able to listen Death Magnetic for 3 or 4 months since I discovered the Spotify but now nearly a year Turkish users can't listen this album still. Why Spotify is not interested in this issue ? I'm paying for a premium account every month but I can't listen to one of my favorite albums. Please solve the problem and inform us.
Unbelievable,
Our mistake is just live in Turkey and if you live there you can't listen huh? then why i do pay money every month
Bought a new phone and was just considering to buy premium but if you're unable to solve such a simple problem, I'll reconsider...
