Situation with Kakao M

Solved!

Situation with Kakao M

Apparently Spotfiy has some issued with Kakao M that has caused a lot of music to be removed from Spotify. Can we have some updates from Spotify about this situation and if/when the songs will be back?

The current situation is more than horrible… I would say: It’s absolutely consumer unfriendly - Congratulations Spotify!

We can’t even see what songs are affected from your „licensing war“ - we can also name it by it’s name: B*llsh*it… that’s stupid as f**k!

I’ve already cancelled my subscription – YouTube Premium was never my favorite in terms of usability… but come on: If you want my wallet, do something for it - Google does the better job! 😋

Look, where is the official statement from Spotify regarding the issue? Whether or not they can get back the songs, is it that hard to just release an official statement to the users saying they are unable to do so? Please stop dragging this issue. Spotify should and probably also understand that the longer it drags, the more angry we users are towards Spotify. This only shows the bad attitude of Spotify towards issue solving like this. Please just give a confirmation on the issue and stop wasting everybody's time. Action taken by Spotify regarding the issue is seriously getting on my nerves. The negotiation has been over a year and no renewing of agreement already tells that there is a very high chance that Spotify is no longer able to provide the songs for users. Stop fooling around and just give us a confirmation so we can stop wasting our time and change to a platform with our desired songs/music while the complaints towards Spotify can stop.

I've just noticed that some track information + album art returned (still not all by now). 🙂

And yes: The german website Otaji already reports, that the contract was renewed - hope it is true! (Edit - english source: allkpop)

If this is the case: After being p*ssed the last time I was around, today I want to say: Thank you Spotify.

But also thanks to everyone who has criticized the way the whole situation was "communicated" to us. 😉

THE SONGS ARE BACKKK!!!!!! The only bad part is that we have to re-add them to our playlists, but who cares! THE SONGS ARE BACK!!!!!

EDIT: I just checked and the songs aren't playable, maybe this means we won't have to re-add the songs???

It looks like the readding is still in process.

In my case the tracks are still in place and (most of them) are playable now. 🙂

Still missing (no info + cover) for example: Jelly by JEON SOYEON

I noticed the songs are still greyed out in my playlist (for example Apink) but playable. Was shocked a bit when they went on. 🙂
When accessing the album it shows normally, not greyed, so it's mostly affecting playlists.

I guess I'm staying with spotify then 😄 Spotify premium without IU is just spotify premm.

Hey everyone,

Kakao M's catalog should be available again. Thank you for your patience.

I checked my library and it looks like most of the blank blacked out songs are now back in place without any action required. For some songs, you may have to re-add them to your collection. If some songs are still showing as blank and blacked out instead of greyed out when you have the "show unavailable songs" option turned on in settings, you can right click or tap the options for the song and select the "song credits" option to see the song title and artist.
