Spotify Volume Control Not Working with Razer Synapse Audio EQ

Solved!

Spotify Volume Control Not Working with Razer Synapse Audio EQ

Operating System

Windows 11

My Question or Issue

I'm experiencing an issue with volume control when using Razer Synapse (Razer's EQ app) alongside my BlackShark headset on Windows 11.

Since upgrading to Windows 11, Spotify's volume control becomes unresponsive whenever Razer Synapse audio enhancements are enabled. Regardless of whether I adjust the volume through the Windows volume slider or directly within the Spotify app, the audio either plays at full volume or is completely muted — no in-between.

The problematic setting is found under:
System → Sound → Properties → Audio Enhancements → Razer Synapse / Off

Disabling the audio enhancements restores normal volume control functionality in Spotify. However, this is not a satisfactory workaround, as it prevents me from using the EQ settings I specifically want for music. Constantly toggling this setting on and off is tedious and defeats the purpose of having an EQ in the first place.

I'm unsure if this is an issue with Windows, Razer Synapse, or Spotify — but I wanted to raise it here in case others are facing similar problems or if there's a known solution.

First up, we appreciate all the details you've shared about this behavior, and also thanks for letting us this is happening.

To begin with, we'd recommend you try the following:

  • Make sure both apps and your OS are up-to-date, along with the firmware of the EQ.
  • Try reinstalling the Spotify and Razer Synapse app. Here you'll find the steps to clean reinstall the Spotify app.
  • Update the audio drivers on your computer
  • Reset your headset through the Razer Synapse app

You can also try checking with Razer's support page

Let us know how that goes.
