Spotify continue to show “New releases” of the blocked artist

So my friend suggested me to listen for specific artist. I did it: listened half of his discography. And I didn’t find anything interesting. No “faved” songs, no single song was added in any playlist and I didn’t follow this artist.

And suddenly I begin to receive “new release” notifications for that artist. I opened artist and blocked him… but after a week I have received again “new release” notification with the same release as before.

So, my question is simple… How to REALLY block the artist and stop receiving any updates regarding blocked artist.

And what I should do in next “discovery session”, should I listen artists in the Private mode ?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

We'll answer your last question first. The Private mode is definitely the way to go, if you don't want content from the "discovery session" to affect your listening history. More on that you can find here.

In the app settings you are able to turn notifications on or off for all Artist Updates. Here is how to do it. Also bear in mind, that by marking an artist with "Don't play this Artist", the algorithm needs a little bit of time to readjust. The immediate effect of this feature is to stop playing songs from this Artist and skip them instead.

If that is not the kind of notification you are receiving, could you post a screenshot of it? This way we'll know exactly what you mean and help you find the best solution.
