My Question or Issue

I installed spotify-launcher from arch repos. It defaults to xwayland. I changed some config to have it run in Wayland because fractional scaling in xwayland does not work causing the UI to be blurry, which all good the UI looks great and is responsive in Wayland.

The issue is simple, the window class in Wayland is null which doesn't play nice with my window manager. Every other application which I had to change to Wayland manually (vscode, discord.. also both electron apps) have dev teams that were able to figure out window class, you're smart people over there hopefully you can fix your package as well.

This has been an issue since at least 2015 and it's still not fixed? My god, even though the hack is so simple, with just 200 lines of C++, come on!

The support for Wayland's app_id (it equivalent to X11's window class) was only implemented in CEF now, and will be available at version 128. This is currently as beta, and once it moves to stable, we incorporate it at Spotify's client

Wayland's app_id is finally being correctly set at the latest 1.2.47 version that is out at the testing DEB repo for those that want to try
