Does not show "Following" in Profile

Does not show "Following" in Profile

Spotify Premium 1.0.11.134.ga37df67b

MBP, OS X 10.10.5

 

A few months back, my Spotify profile stopped showing the "following" tab on my profile. I am definitely following at least 10 people - I can still see their activity in the Activity Sidebar and when I go to one of their profiles, it says I'm following them. This problem persists in the web player as well. It's a pretty annoying bug and I'd love some help. Thanks!

Hi Andy, welcome to the community!

 

That's really strange indeed. Never heard of that problem myself though since most people that have a problem with their following list only have it in either the client or the web player. Can you check an individual artist that you are sure of that you followed before the bug and check if you're still following him/her?

I don't follow any artists, but any friend I followed before the bug I'm still following - says so on their profile and I can see their listening activities on the sidebar. I tried following more people today, and my Following count only showed that amount - not accounting for the people I had been following previously (ie. I follow 2 new people and my profile shows my Following count as 2 and doesn't show the people I was following before the bug, even though when I click on it, it shows everyone I'm actually following).

 

Im also having this problem, in fact I don't have neither "following" or "followers" on my profile anymore.

Those tabs did indeed disappear...

 

Also, I have totally wrong number of following and followers on iPhone and iPad, as I follow few dozen of people/artists, for example iPhone says that I follow -14 (thats minus 14???) and have 0 followers.

For real I follow 74 artists/people and I have atleast 5 followers.

No matter what I use (pc-client, webplayer, iPhone, iPad) it does not show the correct number or following/followers-tabs at all..

 

I have already been in contact with Spotify over this matter and I hope that they will fix it.

Thanks for sending those information.

We've checked and it looks like this is a known issue as of the moment.

We're going to send the information you've sent us to our Development team so they can check.

 

Hopefully this gets fixed on the next update that we're going to release.

 

Once we have an update, we'll post them on our community and support pages.

The team just tried something on their end, can you both try a clean install of the client now?

 

To do that, follow the steps below:


Note: After deleting the client, make sure there are no files left in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Spotify before installing it again!

Windows 7 or Vista:

 

  1. Click File > Exit.
  2. Click Start then select Control Panel.
  3. Click Programs then Programs and Features.
  4. Select Spotify in the list and click Uninstall.
  5. Go to http://www.spotify.com/download and reinstall Spotify.

 

Windows XP:
Click File > Exit.
Click Start then select Control Panel.
Open Add/Remove Programs, select Spotify, then Change/Remove.
Go to http://www.spotify.com/download and reinstall Spotify.

Still not working.

I Uninstalled pc-client and I see that there's been some sort of updated version available from today :  

yesterday it was 1.0.11.134.ga37df67b -> 1.0.12.161.g64b0797c is the current version.

I see theres few thing added on settings atleast.

 

I have reinstalled, in fact tried everything previously as I was in contact with customer-service.

There just seems to be zero workaround for the user here, so in the end it seems this is just some glitch or error on Spotify.

It's no big deal but little annoying really.

Hopefully it will be fixed.

 

I've showed them your result and they said they're working on it.

Btw, this might also be an caching issue. Have you tried to clear your web browser's cache/cookies, then check out your profile on the web player? (is it visible in incognito mode?)

Yes, I have tried this and many other things, but unfornately it does not seem to get fixed.

 Currently, only places where I can see followers/following tabs are on iPhone and iPad (allthough they show completely wrong numbers still).

 

My problem might be connected to something else also, as I had some little problems on the previous account, then customer-service recommended me to start a new one from scratch, then they transferred all the playlists, followers, starred-tracks, my followings to the new account.

Everything else seem to be fine, but somehow the follower/following got messed up as the moved my account to another.

Now it seems to have been fixed for me.

The tabs for followers and following are visible and they show the correct infos.

Yeah I saw they made some changes on their end, glad it worked!

Yes, it's all working nice (on all devices) and normally as it should be.

Hello! Im having the same proplem! Im missing the whole following buttons. I have made 3 accounts And they all have still same proplem! Fustrating!
I have been on contact with Spotify And they said that they will erase my first account.
This part is confusing, im still able sign with both of my accounts And they both have the same email adress?!
Asked about this from Spotify And they newer answered back...
