How the heck do you add music in bulk to "Your Music" --> "Albums"

How the heck do you add music in bulk to "Your Music" --> "Albums"

This shouldn't be that hard.  Is it possible?  I can see you can drag and drop playlists to "Songs" but not albums?  What gives?  Please help!  I searched the other threads and didn't find a clear answer to this question.

I am a visual learner and do all of my music discovery on Spotify.  I rely heavily on the album art to remember the artists names.   I go on the plilosophy that singles are worthless (mostly) and only fill playlists with complete albums if they are solid through and through.

The albums view would be great for me!  And the idea of it is fantastic, but if I have to manage it in adition to playlists, then in my opinion it is an epic fail.

Hey there,

The three "..." next to the Play and Save buttons should allow the option to "Add to..." or "Save." Adding creates a playlist and "Save" adds the whole album to your albums.

What's a Spotify Rock Star, and how do I become one?

Sorry, maybe my question was unclear.  I want to save all the albums I have in a playlist to "Albums"  I don;t want to have to go to each album page individually and add them manually as you described.  I hpe this adds more clarity.

There, atleast not on my machine, is no save buttion next to the play and share buttons while in a playlist.  Yes, I do clearly see it on the artist or album pages.  But thats not what I would call "bulk".

Hmm...not sure then. Sorry. Will keep checking the forums.

You can drag multiple songs at a time from a playlist directly onto the Songs section of Your Music; basically, it works just like if you were dragging them onto a regular playlist. Try not to add 542 or more at a time right now, as there is a known bug with that. But, you can definitely add tracks in bulk, so if you have several albums in a playlist it shouldn't be a problem.

Again, sorry but thats not quite what I am asking.  I understand, and have successfully dragged songs from a playlist to "Songs".

I want to populate -- in bulk just as with songs -- ALBUMS.

I have a list of complete albums in several playlists.  I want to drag the playlist, over albums, let go, and have all the ALBUMS show up there, in "Albums".

Hopefully this adds the final touch of neccesary clarity.

The instructions I gave you will do exactly what you're asking. You can't drag onto the Albums tab, only the songs tab, but whatever you drag to songs shows up in albums. It accomplishes the same thing.

Really?  I am not experiencing that.  I have added songs and albums that way, but they do not show up in albums...  Im on a Mac.  Just got pushed the update this eveining.

Do they appear instantly?  I have dragged albums to "Songs", waited, closed spotify, opend spotify, closed it, opened the mobile app, closed the mobile app, and opened the desktop cleint again, still without the albums ever showing up, despite every song being in "Songs".

What you are describing makes logical sense, but it wasn't, or isn't working that way.

Works for me! Good solution Dino!

You might give it a little time to populate the other sections when you add in bulk. I just added one album by dragging the tracks to the songs tab and it showed up instantly, but a delay isn't unheard of for a lot of tracks. Do you have anything showing up in albums at all yet?

Strangely I do.  Haha and the agrivating thing is I can't figure out how I got the stuff there.  Its every album from one playlist.  But those songs are not in "Songs"!  haha it makes no sense.

I have even added a new album to that playlist, then added that new album to songs by dragging and dropping, however, that new albums does not show in "Albums".

Crazy.

Ok so I just shut down spotify and re opened it.  Now the "Songs" section has ben populated with the songs from "Albums" and the new albums songs are still there.

BUT

"Albums" has not updated to reflect the new songs in "Songs".  It seems to be updating in one direction?

Okay, that is really strange, although I'm glad something has updated finally. I was going to suggest a reinstall, but let's hold off on that for now. If you'll select everything in 'songs' and drag your cursor you should get a little popup that shows how many songs you have. Could you tell me what that number is?

3865 Songs in "Songs" as of right now.  In "Albums" there are 43 albums, so probably, about 430 songs give or tage 20.

Okay, that's definitely quite a lot for Your Music to work through. The total limit right now is 10,000. I'd suggest just giving it some time to catch up for now. Keep us posted though, and we'll keep working with you to get this fixed.

No this gets even weirder.

I just closed Spotify and repoened it again.

This time there are 3852.... After some sluthing, I figured out that it removed the one album that is in the playlist that is showing up under "Albums" that I just added -- the new album that was not showing up under "Albums".  So because it wasn't showing up under "Albums" it seems to have removed it from "Songs".  Like it was linking to the playlist?

Very weird.

HA! and the saga continues.

I then re-added the album to songs.  Nothing happend to "Albums".

I closed Spotify, repoened it, and vwola! the album is now in "Albums".

That said, the albums for the other 3400 some songs are still missing from albums.

Update: after spotify "added" the album to "Albums"

... it removed the other 3400 or so songs from songs!

what the heck is going on here?

Update:

I just added 4 albums, instead of a larger amount, and they instantly appeared in "Songs" and "Albums".

Onto a larger number...

Ok haha, sounds like you're getting somewhere. You must have just run into the limitations of how much this can actually handle 'in bulk.' I'm going to be asking around to see if I can get some answers as to what it's actually made to handle at once and if there are any known syncing issues at play.
