As stated in the title, the Mac app on my system keeps bringing up the onboarding tooltips (the blue bubbles) almost every single time I start up the app.
It'll inform me where the playlists are, what the DJ feature is and what the now playing view is and if I start a song it'll tell me that I'm playing on my Mac.
This has been going on for some time now and I'd like to know how to stop this. It's one of those things that are just out of view enough to not be a complete hinderance but enough to still be annoying because it's irregular.
Hey @volf,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
This is odd behavior, and we'll do our best to help you. Some of these tool tips include a checkbox, namely "Don't show again":
Just to confirm, did you already try checking this box? If you haven't, we'd suggest you give it a try. Not all these tool tips include it, so you should double-check the ones you receive. After that, restart the app to see if you notice any difference.
If the above doesn't do the trick, we recommend you perform a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your device. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date, and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this inconvenience. You can see the steps for a clean reinstall here.
Lastly, if this behavior persists, would you mind if you could replicate this behavior on a different device? You can ask for the computer of a relative or a friend to open your account there and check.
Keep us in the loop!
Hi @AlejaR, that hasn't worked. It's what I checked the first time but I still get the tooltips.
Hey @volf,
Thanks for letting us know 🙂
As @AlejaR has recommended, you could try performing a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your device. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date, and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this inconvenience. You can see the steps for a clean reinstall here and we'd first advise you to go over them.
Should this not help, try replicating the described behaviour on a different device.
Tip: You can ask for the computer of a relative or a friend to open your account there and check.
We'll be on the lookout for your reply!
This happens to me as well and its annoying AF. I need to close the blue pop-ups every time I open the app. There is no option to "Don't show again".
Hi there @Dishevld,
Thanks for your reply in this thread.
For starters, could you send over a screenshot of the tooltips you're getting on the app? Additionally, let us know if you already tried to perform a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your device, as we suggested in our previous replies.
Lastly, did you notice if this started happening after a recent update or change?
We'll keep an eye out for your reply!
Hi Susan. After doing a clean reinstall (as per the instructions posted earlier) resolved the issue. The pop-ups were the same listed in the original post; explaining the DJ playlist and a notice of where I can find all my playlists. Just the 2 pop-ups. I'm not sure when this had started but had been going on for a few months.
Thanks for responding to the thread!
Alright guys, so for those of you who didn't find the solution, here's mine :
If you're like me and you use a cleaner such as CleanMyMac X, just go through the settings of it while doing an analysis before cleaning and check off the box that cleans Spotify's app cache. It fixed the issue for me.
You're welcome haha
Still an issue. Very annoying. Please fix.
