Make discover weekly and song playback work when using 'Select another device'

Make discover weekly and song playback work when using 'Select another device'

Plan: Premium

Country: USA

Device: Multiple - macbook pro 2018 with Ventura (also happened prior with Monterey), windows desktop with win10

Version: Spotify for macOS (Intel) 1.2.4.912.g949d5fd0

My Question or Issue

When I play discover weekly from my app on my macbook and have it play on my windows desktop the app will stop showing the progress of the song, stop showing the song title, and gray out all of the buttons in the mac app. I cannot favorite or dislike songs or play Discover Weekly using the Select Another Device feature, and I can play everything else without it graying out my controls including recent releases and daily playlists. I just found a workaround where I can open spotify in chrome on my mac app and play the Discover Weekly from it, and then it will show up in the macbook Spotify app. This has been going on since day 1 with the app, though, and I figured at some point in the past few years it'd get fixed. Since there isn't any movement on it, I figured I'd post. Cheers, and thanks for the great product.

Hey @somedude1111111,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

We've tried reproducing this on our end but we were not able to.

It sounds like this might be an issue isolated to your particular set up since you've had it for a long time. With that being said, would you mind asking a friend or a family member to log into your devices in order to test if they'll experience the same?  This will help us understand if it's account related or not.

Let us know how it goes.
