[OS X] Spotify Connect suddenly stopped working. No longer sees phone or PS4

Until a few days ago*, I had been using Connect between my laptop, android phone, and PS4. It works fine between my phone and PS4, but my laptop doesn't see either device anymore. 

When I click on the Connect button beside the volume slider, nothing happens. No menu pops up; the icon just stays gray. When I go to the Connect menu on my phone, it only sees the PS4. 

All devices are on the same network. I've restarted each device several times. I completely uninstalled Spotify on both my laptop and phone. Spotify is up-to-date on all three devices. I have logged out of and back into Spotify from all three apps. My network is not behind a firewall or proxy. I have enabled UPnP on my router. My phone is awake, unlocked, and running the app. My phone is not plugged in to anything. I've tried having having only the laptop and the phone turned on; I've tried having only the laptop and the PS4 turned on.

I have no idea what else I could do to try and fix this. 

From my searching on how to solve this, I've come across others who have recently run into the same issue.

*This problem started the same day that my premium subscription ran out, Monday, 4/13.

Spotify Connect is a premium feature.

The reason you are able to see your PS4 on your phone is because Spotify Connect with the PS4 is also available to free users.

oh geez. I completely forgot that. I'd grown so used to it, and it working with the PS4 totally threw me off. Thanks!

Actually, hold on... If Spotify Connect with the PS4 is available to free users, shouldn't I be able to Connect my desktop and PS4?

I don't actually care about controlling my phone with my desktop, but the PS4 app is pretty much unusable without Connect.
