My Question or Issue

hi, my spotify desktop client crashes immediately upon opening. catalina 10.15.6.

UPDATE: Spotify opened using this command: open /Applications/Spotify.app --args --no-sandbox

SO whatever that means I guess

ORIGINAL:
I‘ve tried deleting the cache, preferences, app support file, every single library file in existence. From what I can tell from a cursory Google it may be a hardware acceleration issue. But I can’t turn that off without opening the desktop app first, which is impossible. I’ve tried restarting and opening in safe mode to no effect. The only other application this happened to on my system was Chrome, which I had to eventually uninstall because I couldn’t get it to open.

I was able to have some success after opening an older version of spotify directly from an attached hard drive, but that worked until it wouldn’t let me login due to the “premium users only” glitch. I am a premium user. Now when I try to download older versions the same thing happens. Spotify crashes immediately, for no reason. Restart, safe mode boot, deleting every single file with "spotify" in the name from my library -- no luck. Is there a terminal command I can use to prevent spotify from using hardware acceleration without opening the app?

Please help.
