same here, just encountered this issue
Hey folks!
This might have been a temporary hiccup due to the amount of traffic Spotify is getting, but in case the issue still persists for you, I'd recommend the following:
In case the issue continues to be there for you after this, do let us know and we'll gladly take a further look into this.
Many thanks!
@21aa @olivialock
I recently saw the same thing when trying to visit the web API documentation, now it's also happening in the player on discord when someone sends a link to a song, it just shows "upstream request timeout" instead of the preview player. It seems to correct itself after a while though.
Just re-visit this link https://open.spotify.com/
didn't work
same here
It seems like you're facing an "upstream request timeout" issue with the web player. Please try refreshing the page or clearing your browser’s cache. If the problem continues, check for browser updates or switch browsers. For persistent issues, contacting support with details about the error would be helpful.
ok
Same here on Windows. Neither did clearing the browser's cache or restarting the client app help.
Hey @a2375,
This error may also happen if your internet connection is slower than usual or if too many browser tabs are open. It could also mean that Spotify's servers are currently overloaded.
In case the issue hasn't already resolved itself, apart from the previously mentioned advice, check if opening Spotify in a different browser would yield the same results.
Lastly, we'd also like to know if this is only happening on the Web Player or the desktop app as well.
Many thanks! We'll be on the lookout for new replies in this thread 🙂
This happened to me on google chrome. I tried ctrl+F5 to clear the tab's browser cache but it didn't work.
I opened my IE browser and tried loading and it worked. I'd recommend trying a different browser if this comes up and then switch back later.

My Question or Issue
I currently cannot access Spotify on my home Internet connection (Frontier). When I try to log in, I get redirected to a black screen with three dots on it that never does anything. Opening the same page in another browser does not fix anything. After several minutes, I get an error message in the app that my session has timed out. If I try to open the Spotify website, it does not load and I eventually get an error message "upstream request time out"
I can access the website and app over mobile data (T-Mobile).
me too, its so annoying
I have had this issue come up at least 2 times every three weeks and it’s kinda frustrating.
Have been trying to fix this issue for months now. I've tried everything from different browsers, different computers on our network, clearing browser caches, everything that's been suggested across numerous posts of others having the same problem.
Ironically enough, I had to login here on my phone just to reply because the site throws an error on my desktop. Even more ironically, as I was typing this, a prompt interrupted my typing asking for me to complete a feedback survey. I tapped "sure, when I'm done", and it took me to the survey anyway, making me go back and re-type this rant.
Spotify keeps changing just for the sake of change, and it's always causing more problems than it's fixing. I dread using apple products, but the Spotify experience as of late has been infuriating enough to make the switch to Apple Music.
Respectfully, **bleep** you Spotify.
This “issue” has been happening nonstop and I’ve been receiving It a least 3-4 times in the past few months. I really need this fixed.
Eyy, it works 😄
It works Thx 👍
