My Issue

I've had spotify and this laptop for 5 years now, used it every day.
Today, out of the blue, the spotify app won't let me login, it works on my smartphone, it works on the web player, it doesn't on the app.
My account is linked to my Facebook account, and that's my primary means of logging in.

Things I tried with no result:

  • Using a different internet connection
  • Re-installing the app many times
  • The firewall is disabled os-wise
  • The hosts file doesn't contain anything related to spotify
  • Rebooting the PC
  • Disabling the proxy in the app settings

I am aware that this is a discussed issue, however these are all the topics I looked into to no avail.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

 

Can you confirm that you followed the steps that's provided in this article? There's some more steps to help thoroughly uninstall the app from your phone so if you haven't, we'd highly suggest it since the steps will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

 

If that doesn't do the trick, can you try with a different internet connection to see if the issue persists?

I solved it. I had this problem too. What have I done? I set up a main browser on my PC(like Default Browser) Go to settings on computer - Apps - Default Apps and set an WEB BROWSER default.

I don't want to spend hours debugging this. I am paying you money so everything would just work.

If you cannot build browser integration for FB login to work it is your problem not mine.

Just put all your eng on PIPs or something.

This error is something that Spotify can't solve directly from our end, so in the case we can offer some troubleshooting that's known to fix this.

 

Besides what's listed above, we can recommend changing your password here and that will allow you to log in using your email and password directly without having to be redirected.
