Having the same issue, I can't take my playlists out of a temporary folder I created to split them apart from each other (accidentally happened). Exact same issue your picture shows almost.

Hi all,

I haven't gotten the recent UI update yet, but here's some intel I've gathered from others:

  1. Set the filter to Playlists
  2. Set the sort order to Custom order.

You should now be able to drag & drop playlists outside of your folders as well as change their order.

Thank you for your reply, I'm still unable to take my folders out of the main folder I had to create in an attempt to separate the other playlists in folders too lol.

@mattehb

You could try to toggle the 'Compact Mode' option in your settings. This will make the sidebar behave most like the old one.

It's only a visual change which I'm not a fan of, I just want to be able to take the folders out of another folder in the end.

what tags should I add

Thank you! This solved my problem! Why on earth isn't the custom order the default order anymore?

I actually tried different ways to sort the playlists before reading this solution, but there was no "custom order" option because I hadn't set the filter to "playlists".

It shouldn't be this difficult to sort your playlists in a custom order. It should go without saying that everyone wants to move their playlists.
