Unify liked songs in different editions of albums/singles

Solved!

Unify liked songs in different editions of albums/singles

Hello everyone.

Why doesn't a song appear liked in an album after I liked it as a single? The same thing with different editions such as deluxe etc.

I understand that the metadata might differ, but the versions are clearly linked as the number of plays is the same for all versions, right?

Thank you.

Hey @onceuponalucas!

I agree that the number of duplicate songs on Spotify can be annoying. Sometimes there can be the exact same song as a single, in an album, in a compilation, and sometimes in multiples of all three!

I found this Idea in the Idea Exchange that offers a solution. I recommend voting for it if you would like to see some changes.

Hey @Prague! How've you been, friend?

Based on what I've seen (on Spotify), most singles and album versions of songs (unless they're actually different) share the same play count. This means that linking songs is already somewhat possible. For songs with no difference between the single and the album version, I think it should show as Liked even if they're in different albums, and only show up in your Library once.

Waggin' hello to you onceuponalucas!

Singles are completely separate from albums, the artist distribute  them at different times. Therefor it's treated like a brand new track by Spotify and does not get tied in with the album.

Regarding the number of plays, they are counted separately for each version of the song, even if they are linked. This means that if you listen to the same song in different versions, each version will have its own play count.

Hope this helps clarify things!

Don't leave me in the doghouse, keep me informed!
