My Question or Issue

I can't connect to my Android phone or Firestick from my PC. I have tried reinstalling it over and over for the past week, but it still doesn't connect. I have downloaded the version form Microsoft Store and from Spotify's website, but it still does not work. Connect to device works perfectly on my phone and it even syncs to my Firestick but for some reason, it won't work on my PC.

Hey there @モngie,

Thanks for posting this thread and kudos for already trying with some troubleshooting steps.

In order to investigate further, it'd be great if you could start by sharing the following details:

  • Did you notice when this started happening and if it was after something specific such as an update for example?
  • Does the same issue persist in the Web Player on your PC?
  • As the FireTVStick is visible on the provided screenshot, what happens when you select it and try to connect? Does an error message pop up?
  • If you've not already done this, go ahead and restart your router and if it's possible, try with another internet connection (for example you can share mobile data via hotspot to the devices).

We'll be on the lookout 🙂

It started happening after I reinstalled spotify on the PC. I had a duo account and switched to premium (one person) and this issue started.

The same issue is absent in the web player on my pc

When I select the FireTVStick it logs out of my account and doesn't connect.

I have tried using another internet connection but it still doesn't work.

It doesn't connect to my phone (desktop app) but the FireTVStick does connect to my phone

I've got a similar problem. After yesterday's update, my PC and Spotify Connect wouldn't run.

I have updated windows now, and the PC is connecting.

But Spotify Connect, through my AV system won't play or connect.

I have rebooted everything, the router, the PC, the DCHP settings. Nothing works.  Spotify Connect is a channel (NET) on the AVReceiver (Arcam)

There is a windows update to the NET which I just ran. That will solve the PC problem.  But Spotify Connect doesn't work.

Thanks for the response@モngie, the more details you provide the better 🙂

First I'd like to mention that changing your subscription isn't something which should cause issues with the Connect feature and if the Web Player is working, then it looks like there's an issue with the app itself. We'll troubleshoot it together.

You did mention reinstalling the app multiple times, however if you've not done a clean reinstall (which is more detailed) then I recommend doing so with the steps here. This is to ensure there's no leftover files which may be corrupted.

An extra step which can also be helpful is clearing the host files on the PC. They can also be corrupted and therefore cause performance issues. Check out this help article.

Let us know if you notice any difference and we're here if anything else comes up in the meantime.

It's not the PC. It's my very expensive AV system which was sold with Spotify Connect.

Spotify connect no longer works on home systems.

Hey @scottybail,

Thanks for your reply here and for all the info shared.

Kudos for all the troubleshooting you've tried so far. In this case, we'd suggest you make sure the firmware of your AV receiver is up-to-date.

On another note, we'd like to gather additional info. Please send us the following:

  • Does this happen when trying to use a different device (such as a mobile device) to cast content to your AV system through Connect?
  • Would you mind sharing the make/model of the AV system?
  • Does Connect work as it should if you use your computer to cast content to a different device such as a mobile device?
  • Do you notice any difference if you switch the internet connection you're using? You can create a hotspot from a phone.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes. Keep us in the loop!
