My Question or Issue


The Desktop App is so buggy. It installs everytime I have to open it (long term issue, never fixed). Today, I could not play a lot of song as apparently they were not available (only on desktop app). Search bar has frequent bugs too.

On top of that, I re-downloaded the app and it took half an hour to install.

Please Spotify, tell your Product Team that the Desktop App has potential to be improved 🙂 I have been a premium user for a long time but the complete lack of interest in improving your desktop product makes me feel like canceling my subscription.

Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry to hear about your experience with the desktop app. We'll do our best to help!

 

As a first step, can you let us know if you've downloaded the app from our website or from Microsoft Store? Give both versions a go and let us know if they behave the same.

 

Also, are you using any VPN or antivirus software? If yes, try disabling them. You can check some more troubleshooting steps in this FAQ.

 

In regard to you comment about the search bar, please let us know what's happening in more detail so we can investigate further.

Thanks for your reply.

I downloaded it from the Microsoft store and it took ages. I tried again at home to download it from your website and it was quick.
Any chance there will be a fix for the search bar problem? It literally spoils my CX on the Desktop App as literally everytime I want to type into it, the cursor seems to go crazy.

As a premium user, in general it is a very bad feeling to see desktop apps bugs just piling up without being fixed for good.

If you were able to download the app quicker from our website and if you've not done this already, could you give Spotify a clean reinstall with the steps mentioned here? They're more detailed than a regular one and include clearing the cache which can cause different issues if it's corrupted.

 

I understand it's annoying to use the app if it's not functioning as it should and we'd like to take a further look into what's happening with the search bar as we might have gotten a similar report. 

 

It would be very helpful if you could share as many details as possible about the behavior and when it started, as well as include a short video (if it's possible) so we can take a look. You can either attach it to your next response via the Insert Video option in the post editor or upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us.
