My Question or Issue
Spotify won't play on Windows after installing a new Sound Blaster. The error message is "Spotify can't play this right now (etc..)
After researching and trying all the fixes here I still can't solve the issue. Any advice would be appreciated.
1. Playback fails to start on all tracks on desktop
Possible solutions:
We recommend starting with logging out > restarting your computer > logging back in. Often this solves the issue if your playback fails to start on all tracks.
On Windows another solution for this can be updating your sound drivers. Read more about how to do that here.
Lastly, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app to try and fix this.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Here is the fix. (This is on Windows 11)
Open System, then go to Sound, then 2/3 down select "All Sound Devices". Under Output Devices, select your "Speakers". Now go down 2/3 to "Advanced Settings" and you will see the image below.
Click the drop down, and set it to OFF.
I also uninstalled the sound card and reinstalled the driver.
Hi @gunncat!
Could you check if the correct audio output device has been selected for Spotify? It's also worth checking if the sample rate of the device is set anywhere between 44.1 kHz and 192 kHz.
Keep us posted on this. Cheers!
Just installed this sound card. Same issue, cannot play music. Windows 11, latest drivers for everything, no spatial sound activated, no effects, tried all range of sample rate. For now no other app is having this issue, only Spotify
Try disable audio enchantments in output properties. It helped me, but sound quality dropped
Hey, Spotify, you are seriously with that? I found this block a Spotify App playing, but how sense it is? I have a sound card for better sound, but I can not use that cos Spotify is not compatible... It is a XXI century or a XIX century's Kafka's Prague?
I purchased this card today and its crappy as **bleep** xD
