Missing Playing Animation for Current Song in Playlist

Missing Playing Animation for Current Song in Playlist

Plan

Country

Operating System

Windows 10

Dear Spotify Support Team,

I am a Premium user from India using Spotify on a Windows 10 system. I have noticed an issue with the user interface while playing songs from a playlist. Specifically, the playing animation that used to indicate the currently playing song within the playlist is no longer visible in the current version of Spotify.

Details of the Issue:

  • When a song is playing (e.g., "Dynasty" from the playlist "Emol Soft Long"), the playlist window does not display the playing animation for the currently playing track.
  • Instead, the playlist shows only the track number (e.g., "No. 10") without the animated visual indicator.
  • This feature worked correctly in the previous version of Spotify, and the lack of this functionality now makes it harder to identify the currently playing song in the playlist.

Impact:
This change impacts the overall ease of navigation and usability of the app, as users must scroll and manually locate the playing song within the playlist. It reduces the Quality of Life (QOL) experience that Spotify has been known to provide.

Request:
If this feature has been intentionally removed, I kindly request you to:

  1. Restore the playing animation in the playlist window, or
  2. Provide an option in the settings or preferences to enable or disable this functionality based on user preference.

Additional Information:
I have attached a screenshot for reference, where you can observe that "Dynasty" is playing, but the playlist only displays "No. 10" without any playing animation.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I appreciate your efforts in continuously improving the Spotify experience. I look forward to hearing back from you regarding this issue.

Best regards,
HemanthGR

Hey there @HemanthGR,

Welcome to the Community and we appreciate the details you've provided, as well as the screenshot. It really helps us get a better understanding of the situation.

Before we continue any further, something to keep in mind is that if you search for a song and play it this way, the animation wouldn't appear in the playlists(s) where it's already been added.

If you play a song from within the playlist it's already in (and you've opened it), the animation should show up next to the track (it's not been removed). Could you double-check and let us know if that's how things look like?

Is it possible that you've started playback for this specific song from the Liked Songs playlist it's already added to, but on the screen you're currently looking at the other playlist you've saved it in?

We'll be on the lookout for your response 🙂
